It is your time of season.

From now to next few months, it is time for Hogeye. I can't wait to see your great shots. I just wonder if you can create your own thread titled like, "Hogeye81 collection 09" or something.

Like all here, I appreciate your efforts. It's great subject matter. But, honestly, with the setup you have, your pics should be sharper. A 40D and the 100-400 L series lens should produce supersharp, near-Andy-like pics on a good day. For example, 22.jpg, 1/800 sec, F10 - should be much sharper. Why are you at 800ISO? One daylight pic was 1600. You do have the IS on, right? As Andy has clonked me on the head about many times, don't feel you have to push it to 400mm all the time. And be careful with that big white lens - it draws a lot of unwanted attention.

Practice on some targets - compare your real world style, with a timed release on a tripod (or just sitting on a ledge) at the same distances you shoot from. That'll compare the way you shoot to the absolute best your camera can do (don't forget to turn off IS when it's on the tripod, otherwise it's constantly trying to correct a problem that doesn't exist).
