"Most" is highly incorrect even for the west coast of FL

Thongs and g strings are illegal at state parks. Enforcement seems inconsistent or non-existent.

Some local governments have banned thongs, but they're generally the exception.

For example, the city of Sarasota put on a thong ban which applies to Lido Beach. There are few substantiated reports of enforcement. Yet a few miles away they're completely legal at Siesta Key.

The Tampa Bay area is generally OK for thongs. Illegal at State Parks like Honeymoon Island and illegal in the city of Clearwater. Yet Sand Key Park is a county park in the city of Clearwater, patrolled by the sheriff since its a county park, and they don't enforce the city ordinance. The rest of the Tampa Bay area, the vast majority, is clear for thongs.

In 10 years of walking Siesta Key beach for a week (end of March) I have seen maybe 2 thongs. This a very family oriented beach. Nothing to attract spring breakers (they are actively discouraged).
