Actually, VLC does play FLV files. I just played this last vid on it. Download the latest version, and drag/drop the file onto the VLC player and it should play.

It's interesting that several of these seem to have been shot on mobile phones. Interesting because while the ubiquity of this technology has allowed untolled thousands of moments to be captured that never would have been captured otherwise, the quality is just one step above absolute crap. So there's this weird curve that plots the expansion of the content along side the degredation of quality. For the time being, the tradeoff is certainly worth it (many thanks to the posters!) but in the future, when we have both ubiquity and quality, imagine what threads like this one will look like!:eek:

By the way, do you know anything more about that video? youtube-YQ_eSehGo1E.flv. Where did it origin from? Who posted it etc? Just thinking that it might be more material somewhere... :)

I'm pretty sure I got it off a rapidshare link in the free sites section a few months ago, so really, your guess is as good as mine about what's going on. The file name and memory indicates that it was originally on Youtube and taken down for a TOS violation, but I don't know the username of the original youtube poster. I'd love if someone could figure out what language that is so we could get a translation, though.

I have the new FLV player and still cannot make caps .
Youtube is being really fast about deleting videos now . One was posted i saw and within 5 minutes it was gone . Anyway this is a good one . |
Okay, this is just getting annoying now. Every .flv file I have tried to download and then play doesn't seem to want to work. It just doesn't want to play using the DivX player anymore.
For some reason something on my computer got un-installed during an update because one day I just could not view .flv's anymore. I had the klite codec pack installed back then (1 or 2 months ago) just like I do now. I even tried variations by installing the klite codec standard when that didn't work I tried the basic and then the mega pack. Nothing is working for me. I keep seeing "this file does not contain a video track". Am I just missing something here? Thanks in advance for any information. |
