You can try another video format or use hjsplit to break them to smaller pieces or use a video editor to make shorter segments

Hi

I am new to this and have taken advice form others on here, I can only take from video to dvd and then split files with what i have, I use VLC and it plays fine.

I have no video editing, I was pointed to a few but could never download them :(

If there is somewhere I can post these for others to edit please feel free to help

I haven't tried it, but it'll supposedly convert a whole DVD -- doesn't look like it'll convert an individual VOB though.

I used Xilisoft Video converter. It can handle all kinds of formats. The VOB file was kind of weird because it had scenes that didn't play (I assume because it would be like chapters on a DVD or something). Either way, I cut out the scene that was important. I'll see if I can do the same to the other one posted.
