A teacher who stripped naked for a reality Channel Four television show, today defended her actions, saying she was not told she would have to strip off.

Emma Wright, 37, who works at a £7,000 a year prep school in Streatham said producers also failed to mention the programme was called 'How to Look Good Naked'.

"The programme-makers kept me in the dark," she said. "I turned up each day not knowing what I was doing. On the day of the photo shoot they literally sat me down and asked if I was prepared to go naked.

"I agreed but said what I would and wouldn't allow to be shown. I did cry. It was such a momentous occasion."

Ms Wright's nude photograph was even projected 100ft tall onto Waterloo Station as part of the body-affirming programme. Her actions stunned children and parents alike from the Streatham and Clapham High School where she works.

Christine Di Ahna, whose daughter is taught by Ms Wright said: "I would be appalled at the thought of my pupils' fathers seeing me in my underwear.

"She took two weeks off, during which the children had to have a supply teacher. She should have done it in her own time."

However, other parents defended her decision to appear on the reality show. Marzene Scanlan has three daughters at the school: "Featuring naked on TV may not be the best thing from a career point of view but it's not going to distract her from being a good teacher."

"She felt very positive about the whole experience and I think that can only be a good thing for our children," a couple with two girls at the school added.

The programme aims to show women how to look better without resorting to cosmetic surgery. Programme presenter, stylist Gok Wan said the show was spontaneous and helped to boost women's confidence.
