Dilys Watling - Mexican Cabaret (1975)
 

Sad to say, Benny was practically banned upon his death in 1992, and he's not the only one over here in the UK. Now the Carry On's have scenes cut out of them, and Are You Being Served? is also a no go. Yet today's 'comics' like Jimmy Carr and Frankie Boyle can say far more offensive things than anything olden comedy ever did, and as long as they ride out a storm of criticism their bosses stick by them. It's hypocrisy and it stinks, but there you go.

Anyway, here's another saucy scene from The Benny Hill Show (Series 7, Episode 1, to be exact), and is a musical number that features the lad himself Benny Hill, little Jackie Wright and the beautiful voice of Eddie Buchanan, who died far too young at just 47 in 1987. It's a sketch called "Mexican Cabaret", and as well as having a great song, it features Dilys Watling dancing around in a sexy purple costume that really doesn't cover her bottom. Benny and Jackie play the bongos while she cavorts all around them, throwing out various quips, and when Dilys decides to dance by Jackie, Benny glances at her bum and says "That's what the public want - New Faces!" And he's right. In his heyday, Benny got 21 million viewers (yes, 21 million!), and a good number of them women, so he must of been doing something right. As Ernie Wise said upon Benny's death in April 1992 "I think if you just look at it as entertainment and if it makes you laugh, that's what matters." Wise words indeed.

Dilys Watling - El Paso (1975)
 

My 2nd video involving Dilys Watling comes from the same episode as above, and is from the western sketch "El Paso", with Benny Hill playing a cowboy going into a bar and ordering a drink - only for him to miss the drink slid down to him and covering Dilys at the end of the bar with drink. What's more noticable is that getting Dilys wet made her top see through, and you can clearly see her breasts through the top - quite surprising for an 'official actress.' And because of the nudity in this episode, it was cut from the American broadcasts when it was shown over in the States. I've slowed it down for you so you can get a good look for yourselves.

As for Dilys Watling, she took her surname from her stepfather after her father was killed in WW2. She made her screen debut in 1962 in TV series Compact before appearing in several things over the 60's and 70's, working with the likes of Morcambe & Wise, Dick Emery, Frankie Howerd and The Two Ronnies to name a few - and of course, Benny Hill. By the 1980's her TV work was few and far between, and she seems to of concentrated on theatre after that. She married twice, the second to actor Owen Teale, but sadly last August passed away after a long illness aged 79.

Diana Darvey - Supercalifragisticexpialidocious (1976)
 

A couple I'd seen from the recent TV broadcast, but after noticing that a few episodes had clearly been cut or edited, I decided to look around on the net for any Benny Hill episodes, and found they have the entire series from ITV from 1969 to 1989 on the ok ru channel. It's there that I've been able to edit these videos from.

This one is from Series 8, and features the lovely Diana Darvey in a scanty costume performing a dance and routine, with Benny Hill and Jackie Wright trying to impress her. Not only is the costume a knockout (it even got mentions in popular magazine, pics of which I include here), but part of the joy is seeing Diana getting the giggles when it comes to a certain point near the end of the video. She was a regular on The Benny Hill Show in the mid 70's and her cheeky and happy features makes her a real joy whenever she appears on it.

Diana, it will be of no surprise to hear was the daughter of a former Windmill Girl (striptease club), and born in Bristol in 1945. Her early life mirrored that of Dilys Watling from the previous post, in that she lost her father when she was 2 and took on her stepfather's surname when she went into show business. After time as a Redcoat at Butlins and performing in revista theatre in Spain, she was spotted by Benny Hill during one show, who decided to cast her in his shows. She also appeared in the film Carry on Behind in 1975. After leaving The Benny Hill Show in 1977, she went back to cabaret, touring round the world. Married twice, she was another of Benny's co stars who died far too young, after a fall in 2000 aged just 54. At least seeing these shows we have some wonderful memories of her.

Long shot request, but I recall some stills of a sketch where he plays a deliveryman or hotel employee delivering a package to a woman in a towel, and tosses it to her so she drops the towel. Anyone familiar with this?

Hot Gossamer (1979)
 

It sounds strangely familiar. If I come across it, I will see if I can upload it for you. As it is, I have a video clip from Series 10 of The Benny Hill Show. It's a musical sequence, and although technically the girls here weren't referred to as Hill's Angels until a year later, it is basically them in skimpy costumes that leave not much to the imagination. For more 'sensitive' (modern) audiences, it does feature Benny Hill blacked up, but as it's his show and like with most comedians of that time (see also The Two Ronnies), they played all the characters themselves, no matter what they were playing. All were fair game for spoofing. Rather more disconcerting is Sue Upton in a schoolgirl uniform, which always seemed a little dubious even when I was a kid. The other girls are Francesca Whitburn (leopard skin), Pauline Crawford (pink), Sarah Woollett (French Maid), Louise English (white),Nola Haynes (gold) and Abigail Higgins (in black).

I remember it well. The girl was particularly beautiful (see photo). I was always on the lookout for her in future episodes, but never saw her again. Search YouTube for: HBO promo for the Benny Hill show (1984). She's at the very end of the clip.

Ship's Cruise (1983)
 

Found the clip. It comes from Series 14, Episode 1 (1983), and is part of a musical sketch known as "Ship's Cruise." It was the last series where it was old school Benny regarding style and nudity, before pressure from feminist and "Alternative comedy" critics saw him change it to more family orientated style. You can't say the man didn't try to appease his critics, though try seeing today's comics do the same when asked!

The sketch mentioned comes at the end of the routine, which sees Jane Conaway surprised in a towel by Benny, who tosses a parcel at her to catch, only for her towel to drop. Before then there is a number of saucy numbers, the most revealing I've compiled into this video. It begins with Jackie and Jenny Lee Wright (no relation) being shown into their cabin by Benny, only to find a chest of drawers with Corrine Russell on the front naked with only a plant pot to spare her modesty. Then there is a fitness dance number by the Hill's Angels (Corrine Russell, Jane Conaway, Sue Upton, Louise English, Elfrida Ashworth, Gilian Adams, Maria Whittaker and Tracy Evans) with thong like costumes, before a cheeky beach ball sketch (which I've included in my Pat of Appreciation thread), then Hills Angels numbers involving only flowers covering their breasts (and also including sisters Sharon and Tina Bond), and lingerie, which also features Mandy Perriment and has Lousie English singing in both numbers. Finally, as mentioned, is Jane Conaway's towel dropping sketch. I thought as they were all from the same musical sketch, they might as well be included in one whole video, though it has meant reducing the number of pics of each sketch.

As for Jane Conaway, she only did the one series with Benny Hill in 1983, and is now a health practitioner and author.

Alison Bell - Wondergran vs Dracula (1979)
 

You're welcome, bencal. Happy to oblige. And lonmol, I do agree. Louise English is lovely, and for your information she actually appeared nude twice in her career. She appeared topless in the remake of The Wicked Lady in 1983, but 3 years earlier did a screen test for a planned 1980 version of Moll Flanders that never got made. It was going to be a follow up to Caligula (1979) and the screen test apparently was included in a documentary on Bob Guccione. The film sadly was abandoned, but I'm told in the screen test Louise appears fully nude! Thought you'd like to know that, and in case anyone knows what the documentary was called.

Anyway, to my own video and this is from Series 10, episode 2. It's a brief clip from a sketch called "Wondergran v Dracula from 1979. The sketch itself is great fun, and years before Supergran (the sketch itself is apparently a spoof on Wonder Woman), and in one scene sees Dracula below a window of a Girls College as a girl (believed to be Alison Bell) undresses by her window, removing her bra and briefly exposing her breasts! Naturally I've slowed it down for you at the end for you to get a better look, and of course Dracula (Benny Hill) wants a good look too. However, things do not go according to plan for him...

Pan's People - Bathing Beauties (1979)
 

Another clip from Benny Hill, and this comes from Series 10, episode 3 from 1979 and involves none less than Pan's People in a dance routine that involves them parading in just towels and strategically placed shells on their most intimate areas! The girls that feature are Abigail Higgins, Pauline Crawford, Francesca Whitburn, Sarah Woollett, Stephanie Lawrence and Louise English. As it seems now it'll likely be March when I will be able to finish uploading what I have left - or tomorrow, depending on world events - I shall just keep uploading what I have in videos until I run out. Until then, just enjoy and indulge in a bit of nostalgia with these videos.

Hills Angels Swimsuit act (1980)
 

This video comes from Series 11, Episode 2 of The Benny Hill Show and features the Hills Angels (Sue Upton, Louise English, Abigail Higgins, Andee Cromarty, Susan Daly, Sharon Haywoode, Anne Easton, Debi Gaye, Julie Kirk, Erika Lynley, Leigh Miles, Clare Smalley, Samantha Spencer Lane, Vivienne Warman and Penny Wells) in a bikini style music routine. I don not know which girls are in which costume, but in Pic 6 I've uploaded, the girls are from left to right: Claire Smalley, Sharon Haywoode, Samantha Spencer Lane, Louise English, Sue Upton and Susan Daly. And to make it easier to recognize a couple more, Sue Upton and Abigail Higgins are the pair that are in see through tops that leave nothing to the imagination when it comes to showing off their boobs!

An extra Benny Hill video for you, this Hills Angels routine comes from Series 12, Episode 1 from 1981 and features the Hills Angels performing an aerobics routine that is sure to wet the appetite for some members on here. The girls featured are Sue Upton, Louise English, Abigail Higgins, Clare Smalley, Elfrida Ashworth, Alison Bell, Lee Gibson, Julie Kirk, Samantha Spencer Lane and Alison Thomas. Enjoy.

Hills Angels - Saucy Scaffold (1981)
 

I'm not sure if this is it, but it could be. This video sees the Hills Angels in negligees dancing on the street, before then cavorting on a scaffold as the camera looks up at them. A few are in thong like pants, while a couple are in see through tops. And thankfully I can identify which girl is in which costume as well, for those who like to know who's who. They are Clare Smalley (red), Louise English (pink), Sue Upton (black), Penny Kendall (gold), Abigail Higgins (white), Alison Bell (violet) and Camilla Blair (Violet Bodysuit). It's short, but saucy.

Hills Angels - Hotel Splendide Bikini Dance (1982)
 

Another Hills Angels dance routine in very little clothing, this routine was called Hotel Splendide for some reason, and has the girls dancing about in bikinis and swimsuits. This is from Series 13, Episode 1 from 1982, and by the next season it would be it's most risqué yet...

Hills Angels - Little Dimpton Street Party (1982)
 

Another Hills Angels routine from 1982, this time episode 2 of Series 13. Amazingly, sometimes Benny Hill only did 2 episodes per year, and this was one of those years. Indeed, as the 1980's progressed, his imput lessened, and after 1983 - his sauciest year yet - he would bow to pressure from some feminist groups, as well as an attack by a certain 'alternative comedian' - and tone down the sexiness and nudity in his sketches (Ironically, they never seemed to notice the nudity in Dave Allen).

I will post the 1983 sketches tomorrow if able, but here is the 1982 Hills Angel dance sketch, called "Little Dimpton Street Party", and includes a number of scenes. It starts off with the Hills Angels performing in skimpy red underwear in the street, but then progresses to a great sketch involving a flowery lovely posing for photos for the press, before panning down to photographers from The Sun and Daily Star taking photos up her dress! (Each paper has it's own perspective on readers most important concerns, you see). Then it switches to a street party, where a gaggle of sexy traffic wardens do the can can in the street, with one girl mooning to Benny Hill at a table! Service with a smile, you might say...

Alison Bell - Super Teech (1983)
 

This short clip is a precursor for what is to come from the 14th series of The Benny Hill Show in 1983. This is from the end sketch Super Teech, and sees Louise English's princess kidnapped by the leather clad Wanda, the Wicked West Wickham Whip Woman (played by Alison Bell). Bell is virtually unrecognizable in her get up, which is very skimpy and has her wearing a thong that has her bare backside full on show. She's in the costume throughout the sketch, but this is probably the only time you see any flesh. It's short, but I thought you'd like to see it out of completeness sake. This episode also featured the Ship's Cruise sketch posted last week in this thread, and showed just how revealing Benny Hill's shows were becoming. It would become even more so in Episode 2, the sketches of which will follow shortly...

Hills Angels - Wild Wild West (1983)
 

This is from Series 14, Episode 2 of The Benny Hill Show from 1983, and there is quite a bit of flesh on show in that episode. This sketch is called Wild Wild West and features the Hills Angels in their most revealing costumes yet, with thongs for all the girls. However, for fans of Louise English, she keeps her clothes on as she does a number of impersonations, such as Tommy Cooper, Leonard Rossiter and Bobby Ball, while oogling the girls. The ladies very much on show here are Corinne Russell (pink), Jane Leeves (yes, her from Frasier, in blue), Tracy Evans (dark blue), Elfrida Ashworth (maroon), Cheryl Mortimer (green), Jane Conaway (gold) and Gilian Adams (browny red - she has short curly hair & in pic 9). I've tried to include shots of all the girls, but with a limit of only 9 pics it isn't easy. This was one of the sketches that gained a lot of criticism by some for being less than 'family friendly.' The sketch that follows this post that featured later in the same episode would outrage them even more...

Corinne Russell - The Saucy Boy with the Slingshot (1983)
 

Continuing on from Episode 2 of Series 14, this sketch concluded the episode that nearly always ended with Benny Hill being chased by a gang of women or somebody. Called The Saucy Boy with the Slingshot, this features Benny Hill as a schoolboy who runs amok with a catapult. Seeing a strip club, he decides to enter, where Corinne Russell plays a stripper performing with a beach ball. If some critics weren't happy with the bare buttocks on show in the Wild Wild West sketch, they would of been having the vapours with this sketch, which not only shows off Corinne's pert posterior, but also her breasts in glimpses behind the beach ball. There is a great twist at the end of the sketch, but the critics weren't impressed, calling it soft porn. After taking the criticism to heart, Benny's shows after this would be toned down to make it more family friendly, and the revealing costumes and sketches of yore would be no more.

I have realized that I have missed out a sketch from this episode, and that is from the "Holiday" sketch, which also features nudity. Although I believe someone has posted that in clips on page 4, I might yet upload it in one video for you, just to finish the set - and the saucy 1983 series - off for you. Holiday Sketch - The Benny Hill Show (1983)
 

The Holiday sketch from the 1983 series of Benny Hill, which was originally uploaded in clips by member dro. I thought I'd upload all the skimpy stuff in one video to complete my uploads of saucy clips from The Benny Hill Show. Here there are a number of scenes, from the opening clips of two women holidaymakers topless, to a girl ironing in a bikini, and another harpooned in the ass (Corinne Russell) before a girl rubbing suncream in a gal pal's back. Then it shows 'young' Jackie Wright (who left the show due to ill health after this) playing ball with a group of bikini lovelies, before Benny Hill does some reporting for the TV, only to be distracted by bikini girls taking off their tops, a couple parking their bum next to him, and then a couple of topless sunbathers (one of them Corinne Russell again) rising to leave. Finally, it ends with Jackie Wright eyeing up the pert posteriors of some workout girls before putting his back out. What interests me is the two holidaymakers at the beginning of the video - did they know they were being filmed or added to the final cut of this show, or did they only find out when they sat down to watch it? Imagine if it was the latter, and knowing that your neighbours would be seeing you in quite a different light that night!

Actress Wardrobe Change - The Benny Hill Show (1980)
 

It seems there was an episode I missed in checking out the saucier Benny Hill moments, and it was Episode 1 of Series 11. There are two videos I will upload from there, and the first is from a sketch where Benny Hill plays Barry Normal, a film critic researching the life of obscure film actor Chubby Dodds. In one clip, he is speaking outside when two actresses are undressed by the dresser by a clothes rack and appear topless sideways as they stand in just their knickers. It's brief, but I thought fans of this thread may wish to see it. The other video is the clip that I believe may of been the one member bigbopper was referring to all those years ago, which I will post shortly...

Hills Angels - Gala Night (1980)
 

This quote could also refer to a Hills Angels routine performed in Series 11, Episode 1 in 1980. Called "Gala Night", which is a disco tribute routine, it starts off with Benny Hill chancing upon three bikini girls, but not having much luck with any of them - including a rude noise that you'd never expect to hear from a Hills Angel - before then diverting to the beach, where a couple of the girls have their tops off (though they are coy enough not to reveal too much) and a slightly pervy scene where Benny holds Louise English up before lowering her bottom down on his face. More is seen when they all head to the disco, where a number of the girls have see through tops on - including Louise English - and a couple wear thong like swimsuits. I think this is all the 'revealing' stuff from Benny Hill, but if there is more then feel free to upload them. As it is, enjoy the upload.

Do you have the follow up skit to Wondergram? I never saw it for the first bunch of years it played in the USA but many years later I caught the skit when it was being replayed on a small local station. There was one scene which may have had the nudity edited out.

Series 12, Ep 1 (with Wondergran clip) (1981)
 

Sorry for the late response, Loftw, but I hadn't seen your message until before now. The only scene I can think of that had nudity in from the Wondergran vs Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde sketch from 1981 is a scene in the hospital where Benny Hill's doctor pulls back the sheet on a sleeping - and naked - Sue Upton. Although her arm is crossed partly over her chest, you can see her breasts and nipple, so this could be it. I have slowed the scene down as well, which is on the end of the video about 3 mins in.

I've also included a couple of other scenes in the episode, just in case that wasn't the scene you meant. The video begins with Benny as a postman who spies a brunette undressing at the window (though this girl keeps her hand to her chest when she turns round), plus a circus sketch involving Louise English and other girls in skimpy costumes, and Sue Upton getting into a bath (though it looks to me as if she's got her knickers on in this sketch). Whatever sketch it is, enjoy the video, and apologies for the late reply.

Benny and Sue had a long term relationship...of sorts. He basically adopted her family, and she gave him blowjobs. Benny would spend part of the year with her and her children, and part of the year with another woman. Much has been made of how lonely and unhappy he was, but I don't believe either is true. He was all about his work, and that's what he loved doing. I think his show being cancelled was what killed him.

Hi Lonmol! I agree with everything you said, but on one point you may be extrapolating a bit. It's another girl from the show, Cherri Gilham, quite an extroverted and eccentric personality, who said in her autobiography that she gave Benny blowjobs at the end of filming days in the early 70s. Sue Upton, who later became a rather important protagonist of the show, always posed as a defender of Benny's memory and would never have said it publicly. I even learned, from someone close to Sue with whom I spoke on the internet, that the two girls were angry with each other, and I think that this revelation from Cherri is undoubtedly one of the causes of this discord.

Which doesn't mean there wasn't that kind of relationship between Benny and Sue, of course. It is true that on screen and in photos, there is a special chemistry between the two. Sue never seems shy, and always finds herself front and center in Benny's most risque sketches, where our beloved hero (or one of his accomplices) lifts her mini-skirt and fondles her lovely behind. :) She was also a driving force in the sexy dance interludes of the Hill's Angels. She was certainly of all the characters on the show the one who brought me the most joy in front of the screen. Benny made me laugh, but his monologues were dubbed in my country and could bore me, and I longed to see Sue and the other girls again being the center of attention.
