My personal experience is that even back when I did this event for the first time in 2012, it was always beset with predatory men who were primarily not of British descent. The majority of riders are male exhibitionists, and a substantial number of the spectators are there to ogle them, not women. Note that even when there isn't a single naked woman to be seen, there are still hordes of these men (and a good few women) lurking about with their phones and vidcams. I think the simple fact is that men are far less bothered about getting their kit off than women, and the preconception among a growing number of people is that there's something a bit grubby about these events, hence declining numbers.

If you go back to the earlier WNBRs (London and elsewhere) you will see that only relatively small numbers of women took part then, particularly those who chose to ride completely naked. It has always been common for various of these riders to partially or completely dress because of the unwanted attention they receive. Brighton had a few wonderful years with very high turnouts of ladies, many from the university who would dare each other to take part. The 2014-2019 period was great but then Covid came along and after it, new organisers took over and that was pretty much the end of that one. London has always been a mixed bag. 2016 and 2022 were my favourite rides. I don't think the so-called glory days were quite as glorious as people remember them and I say that as someone who has covered 30 of these events.

I rode 2009-2015 as a marshal for the Brighton WNBR and we always had trouble with the pushy photographers. I was once given a lecture in racism (by a new organiser) by stating that the most annoying were from the Indian sub-Continent! Brighton was fun, it was always treated like the Brits treat a saucy seaside postcard, but later it got a bit darker. I loved riding and chatting to people on the ride, even once getting involved with a medical emergency at the second rest stop. I was riding with a young nurse (I had the walkie-talkie) and we went to a rider who'd collapsed. I still marvel at assisting the fully nude nurse as she swung into a professional first aid mode. Only stopping when two para medics (whom she knew) turned up! I posted photos here, but only after I'd asked and received full permission from the subjects. They probably didn't know about this site, but were almost always happy to pose.

Time moves on, the world is worse than it was before the WNBR started alas, but it will remain with me as fun and 'sexy' days.

Long time lurker have been doing the rides on/off for ten years, so thought i could add a few thoughts. i started at the tower hill, not the wellington arch start, but i felt both interactions with general public as spectators and amongst the riders themselves felt low energy and subdued, very little eg women coming up to ask for pictures or riders seeing women smiling taking pictures, saying would you like a picture, in fact to be honest i couldnt remember a single fully naked 18-35 woman at all.

At wellington arch fdooby captured some great interactions, obvs sue and christina who are natural, but the epytian couple who were inviting spectators for pictures and there was a very attractive woman in a tight dress coming up enthusiastically to get a picture with the couple. so like a festival or a carnival type atmosphere eg how the ride used to be.

The ride itself was very subdued, perhaps because of not having forum mangum square break, but other than riders who were bringing music, the ride was dead no stopping for pictures at landmarks, no interacting with the crowd, security saying keep riding, dont stop and talk, and very few riders had signs on them eg those two girls so you could have a natural way to start a conversation, very few people with bodypaint.

relatively to previous years the gender ratio was way out of whack, yes it may have always been 90/10 or 95/5 but with 1000 men that meant 50-100 women of whom lets say maybe 10-30 could be 18-35 and fully naked and happy to either take pictures or allow people to take pictures of them.

This time by the time the ride got to lincoln square, so maybe women had already left by them, other than eg sue, christina, maybe 5 fully naked women. there were some women as part of couples, but they were giving off vibe of wanting to be left alone plus you need the enthusiastic consent of her boyfriend/husband to interact with his partner ask for pictures so you dont be seen to be stepping on his toes.

Of the 5, 1 was gorgeous, but was no longer naked, no pictures of her have yet been posted here, the two girls who i think started at hackney, with they no rack dont frack, they also had some slogans on their bottom, and any other women i cant remember.

The reason i thought of commenting, was i agree with both fdbooy and other commentators who though the ride was shit, eg in picture above the 2 beauties, fdobby shows a picture with the girl with the red shades very enthusiastically leaning into the picture with the topless asian man, so was clearly happy to be there.

However when i approached, this was say 15 mins into lincoln stop, they were surrounded by photographers, and men giving them attention and had moved to the side when earlier they were in the throngs of the crowd. when i approached i made eye contact with the shades girl got positive smile back, said do you mind if i take a piture with you two, she was happy, not as happy as fdooby pic but still, but her friend was initally negative to the idea, but they agreed after a brief back and forth.

Those two seemed to leave the ride soon after lincoln stop, my guess is they were just overwhelmed with male attention being frankly the two standout stars and frankly the only attractive fully naked women amongst 1000 other men. the feeling i got was shades girl was the instigator and her friend was being brought along with the ride. the fact they got fully naked at the start when they look in picture as only women, the fact at the front of the ride, the fact some double entendre signs eg no rack, near her breasts, or the messages on their bums, would usually imply commited to the ride, high energy and open to interactions with public and fellow riders.

Perhaps this was a me issue my vibe my energy just didnt sync well with these two, and they were really happy to have pictures with other riders. but the point is both are right, the ride overall was shit, no vibe at all, very few women, very few attractive naked women open to banter and pictures, and the few attractive naked women either got dressed during ride , or left prior to the end so that none of the pictures near buckingham palace and the end point of ride was dead.

I think both are true, yes the ride was shit, but fdobby has shown with his vids at wellington arch and with the picture above with hottest girl of the ride, the more rack, dont frack girl leaning into the topless guy taking a selfie of the two, for an attractive woman to lean into a picture like that is a very postive signal that she is having a good time and is open to interacting with other riders taking picture having brief banter with other riders.

that girl is a rare example of a beautiful woman fully comfortable in her body, and happy to socialise with other riders, and from my very brief interaction didnt fit the stereotype of exhibistionist, adult industry/only fans rider that we have been increasingly seeing in recent years, and the fact she put the effort in to have slogans, essentially nobody men or woman had any slogans at all, doubly confirms she wanted to be at the ride and was enjoying herself.

My point being men like yourself or fdobby who are smooth and calibrating in interacting with the women, can still have really positive expereinces at the ride.

I would have had several minutes of footage of me talking to them but for one of the security feminazis who kept shouting at people to 'move down' at Lincoln's Inn Fields. I was in a position where my handlebars were pointing towards some old mens' wrinkly bottoms as everyone was packed in like sardines. If I ever do another of these events I'm going to use a head mounted GoPro so wherever I look, I capture video.

For the record, the two ladies and their clothed friend were lovely if a little overwhelmed by the attention they got. I have absolutely no idea why the pack mentality kicks in. You will get infinitely betters snaps and footage by just talking to people and behaving in a normal, non-predatory manner.

Purpose of this post?

Just wondering if it makes sense to hold two different naked rides in different parts of the city at the same time. Maybe the organizers could consider having the two rides take place on different days? Or, maybe consolidate the two rides into one larger ride.

Quesrion: Does any other city hold two different naked rides at the same time in the same city?

Changing Attitudes
 

As a follow up to the points about the ride not being fun, there seems to be a more prudish attitude emerging which is related to a changing political/anti liberal mood in the country. This equates nudity in public with pervyness and children need protecting from the sight of naked males. The decreasing number of females will only exacerbate this.

I am sure this has put the organisers on edge and may well lead to greater restrictions as we get closer to the next election.

Attitudes always change back and forth.

Weird to try to make a passive-aggressive point about being better than an unspecified group who take pictures of naked women while partaking of a pictures-of-naked-women forum.

Most men enjoy seeing photos of naked women. But how those photos were obtained matters.

A couple of decades ago the photos we had from these rides were taken by the riders themselves, or by photographers maintaining a respectful distance along the ride course, and no one involved had a problem with that. As these events grew and got more attention, men with cameras started flocking to them, surrounding women, invading their personal space, and making them feel uncomfortable. As someone who’s never done that, or felt the urge to do that, I have no problem criticizing men who do that.
