If you want to check for security cams, when dark open the selfie camera of your phone and spin around. You will see any IR lights behind you. You can test this by pointing an IR remote at your phone, you will see the blinks when pressing a button.
The selfie cams have not so good IR filters, older phones also have worse filters, so you will better see the IR. Test this with a remote.

And for testing two way mirrors, switch the flash of your phone to always on, hold it against the mirror and take a picture. If there is anything behind, you got the picture.
