I'd suggest to try and take as many pics as possible before the ride starts, and then after the race ends too (easier to line up shots, focus, etc). During the ride, I'd suggest to put the GoPro under the saddle looking back as it should give better shots of the riders (as opposed to seeing mostly backs n cracks if you had it facing forwards lol). Can't wait to see what you get this year! |
WNBR mayhem

Ok, so with a little more than a month and a half until the northern hemisphere ride season gets underway, thought I'd keep things ticking over with a wee recap of favourite WNBR images. Not necessarily favourite girls- though some of my very favourites are here- just images which I find fun and which capture the character of the WNBR mayhem. Anyone got others? |

UK WNBR season start
Just a bump to this thread as to remind the UK and continental Europe(most of the UK rides will take place before a possible UK Brexit :)) based OCC members that their WNBR season will start next saturday, the 12th of May with the Portsmouth WNBR!!
Here are the UK dates, so far as i know: Saturday May 21th: Portsmouth Saturday May 28th: Canterbury Friday June 3rd: Southampton Saturday June 4th: Bristol & Hastings Sunday June5th: Cardiff Friday June 10th: Manchester Saturday June 11th: London Sunday June 12th: Brighton Saturday June 18th: Cambridge Saturday June 25th: Chelmsford & York Sunday June 26th: Scarborough Friday July 1st: Newcastle Gateshead Saturday July 2nd: Worthing & Folkestone Saturday July 9th: Exeter Saturday July 16th: Colchester Saturday July 23rd Clacton Please note that the Scarborough, Newcastle Gateshead and the Worthing rides are completely new rides. Newcastle Gateshead is well known for a Spencer Tunick installation some years ago. With so many rides, we could be probably looking forward to a record amount of pics. (i hope so :p:o) In particular, i'm hoping to see also pics from the new rides. May be some fresh girls will show up there? ;) |
Portsmouth has just 27 confirmed riders on it's FB page, and although there are a few college age girls this year, I suspect the poor weather forecast ((15C and rain) will ensure it's reputation for being a truly 'cockfest' ride will endure.
On a happier note, Brighton looks good, with 500 confirmed and 350 interested people on the FB event page with three weeks still to go. There is quite a lot of talk about girls buying water guns, to fend off unwanted photographers! Another reason to join in, if you want to be accepted by them. I think I'll miss this years rides, (for the first time since 2008), but coverage is so much better now, I won't be missed here! |
It seems that after a some years, i can join the Dutch WNBR again and may be, i will try to join the Brussels WNBR.
The good thing is that since november the German company Flixbus operates (in coöperation with local partners) very cheap direct bus connections between my city, the Netherlands and Brussels. Also they started some days ago with a direct bus connection from Eindhoven in the Netherlands and Belgium to London!!! Prices starts from just +/- 19euros (Eindhoven) one way If i had no duty in the weekend of 11th june, i sure had booked this busconnection to join one or more UK WNBR's. Unfortunately, it will be for next year!!! ;) |

Portsmouth ride postponed (sensibly). Now happening on 3 July, the day after the Folkestone ride. Would have been a re-run of Hastings last year if it had gone ahead.
|
Hastings
Looks like Hastings is cancelled. Just as well, only 19 turned up last year and the organiser is blaming everyone but himself.

Guide for seeing the rides?
Can we all contribute to a "guide" for the best places to go to see as much of the rides as possible, using only public transit and foot.
For example, Brighton: - Starting point - Walk to Old Steine - Walk to ending point at the beach Or London: - Starting point - Tube to Westminster Bridge - Walk to Lincoln Fields Inn - Tube to ending point Can anyone give advice for Bristol or Manchester? Specifically where the rides tend to take breaks for photos. |

Stripping bystanders

So, a couple of weeks now until the British season gets properly underway, tra la la la. Hopefully Canterbury next week will also go well- the early weather forecast is mixed and, I can't find a FB event page for it- looks like this year they're just co-ordinating through a Y@hoo group?
In the meantime here are some babes who apparently got swept up in the WNBR spirit and got their kit off simply for the hell of it. I'd love to see more of the Bristols in image #5, if pics exist. |

I've always been a big fan of the spontaneous blue-haired girl in pic 4 above who stripped with her boyfriend. I haven't seen some of those pics of her before, can you post them full size?

Here are a few sources though, hope they include the ones you're after. Needless to say, check fwd and back in the photostreams as some are multiples. I see you uploaded one of the images yourself, Laylak, to the 2011 OCC thread- thanks and credit to original posters and photographers, as I always mean but only sometimes repeat. flickr.com/photos/bike-tripod/4694993275/ flickr.com/photos/mericbasturk/4799568945/ flickr.com/photos/8774962@N08/5835137990/ flickr.com/photos/51205467@N04/4708412913/ Also I've been meaning to post this BBC 'Woman's Hour' podcast on female nudity that was broadcast in the UK earlier in the year- rest assured I'm not a regular listener! Just in case anyone's interested in the ethics and philosophy involved in participating- regular London steward Natasha is one of the panel, and it makes an entertaining listen, in particular the last 10-15 minutes. That old chestnut; nudity as female empowerment or post-rationalised pornography; is OCC really a feminist's matriarchal utopia? ;) http://www50.zippyshare.com/v/zd1zouWa/file.html |

Canterbury Tomorrow
No great hopes for this one, it'll be a load of fat middle-aged men on bikes.
The organiser is a knob head and doesn't like photographers so it gets bugger all publicity except when one guy turns up with an erection and it goes viral! |
Quote:
I was in the area anyway so thought I'd go along to the start. Really, I just can't see the point in this ride happening when the turnout is so low. Other than a handful of curious people just outside the castle grounds, no one seemed remotely interested as the small group made its way into town. Weather was about ideal too - sunny and very warm. |
Quote:
I can't give full names as it breaks the rules here but to be clear 'Barry' is the organiser, the knob head I'm referring to is 'Simon' who cancelled the ride in Portsmouth, he also organises (and lives in) Folkestone. He was at the ride and he was the one who banned the Black guy on the fold up bike, I even saw him chasing the guy on Brighton beach, just goes to show what a power trip 'Simon' is on! The guy just took his shirt off, writes a 'No Fracking' slogan on his back and is now a fully paid up member of the WNBR! These small rides are madness and do no good at all. |
I would actually suggest that some of the small rides do more harm than good. People who see these go away thinking WNBR is just about middle aged to elderly men, almost entirely long time naturists, riding about in small groups for no obvious reason. At least the bigger rides get positive coverage, by and large, and the message is obvious.
The Hastings one I did in 2014, despite being pretty small (just over 50 riders) and 95% male, at least got a good response from the spectators and got the message over. The 2014 Canterbury ride looked like things were moving in the right direction, with about 100 taking part and even some women among the participants. Unfortunately at least one of these was harassed by one or more fellow riders. I think the 'stiffgate' debacle last year made this ride a laughing stock and I would be very surprised if there was another in 2017. If Brighton gets the sort of weather Canterbury had today, turnout is sure to be high and the atmosphere superb. But no doubt that one will be grey/cool/windy. |

I'm considering popping down for the inaugural Newcastle ride though, in July. As a new ride with 1,000 potential riders it may well be worth the 3hr return trip- always a beautiful drive as well ;). The suggested route is on the FB page, and I've had a look over it- know the ground moderately well after doing the GNR twice and visiting the city several times over the years. I can see at least five good photo op spots plus four potential rest/regrouping areas. My thoughts would benefit from more detailed knowledge though. Anyone interested in sharing ideas, please PM me! |
Canterbury WNBR

Seeing the first pics of the Canterbury WNBR, it seems that it was indeed a cockfest, all cockride. :o:(
So not interesting for OCC, however some female spectators liked to see the naked riders passing by. :p (the Flickr member is HowXard AXnderson, remove X) |
Weather for Bristol is not looking good either, typical that last weekend was perfect and a great ride gets overcast and a max of 18C!

Southampton
OK, so here is the first of my opinions about a UK WNBR.
We've had 2 so far in this country, 4 men turned up for Portsmouth and Canterbury was an equal disaster but now we are into the season proper and the next 10 days or so should be great but probably not in Southampton. For a successful ride lots of hard work needs to be done, one of them is publicity and nowadays it's got to be local stuff, Facebook, Twitter and the main page and plenty of online engagement. Southampton has failed on most of these accounts. In the past it has been quite good so I could be wrong, unless you are very local IMHO it is not worth the journey. Bristol on Saturday, my opinions up next if any one is interested. |
Bristol could be OK, as it has a history of good female attendance, our famous pair of riders started out in Bristol three years ago and now travel to London and Brighton to get naked. If only it was on Sunday though, the sun will be out and it will actually be warm for a change. Just have to hope the overcast skies forecast for Saturday don't put people off too much:mad:
|
I'm not far from Southampton and the sun is occasionally breaking through the cloud and it's not too cold either, similar forecast for Bristol and a super hot and sunny day on Sunday:D:D........ for Cardiff. In 2015 it gave us some of the best girls and great photos.......could be the best one again this year unless next week's forecast for the two big rides (London and Brighton) improves!

Another chilly ride - this is the problem with evening events. Again not great weather in June!! For some reason the number of women attending each year is dropping. 3 lovely ladies this year but only ONE brave enough to strip.
Hopefully Bristol today will be a warmer ride - not a good look with your cock shrivelled!! |
The weather doesn't make a whole lot of difference to the number of people who ride, so long as it's not absolutely horrific. More people rode in Brighton under gloomy skies last year than took part in the gloriously sunny 2014 ride. The weather was about perfect in Canterbury last week and barely 20 people turned up. Sunshine in Southampton yesterday evening and the ride consisted of '20-30 old men.'
The reason for the almost entirely male smaller rides is obvious - women feel intimidated by the inevitable gawpers. Whereas at the bigger rides, there's safety in numbers and anyone overstepping the mark will quickly be dealt with usually. Smaller rides are increasingly less successful to a point where most are now a waste of time. Edit in view of post immediately above this one. 20-30 old men and 3 ladies :p |
