So where's the best place to be to see this years London ride ? Start, middle or end ?
Are they going across Waterloo Bridge again ? That was a good spot for seeing people jump off and take photos of themselves mid-ride. |

There are five start points and three convergence points. I can't imagine that people will stand around for long at the Piccadilly Circus convergence point. It's just too busy and un-green an area ... it's barely a piece of pavement (which is crowded at the best of times). At least Hyde Park had large expanses of green which allows people to spread out and sit down. I imagine that the convergence points will simply be points at which the routes merge - with people from the various start points simply cycling straight through when they get there. The only guarantee of seeing everyone will be at the finish - Hyde Park corner. And the other point - how cold will it be ? If the weather is like last week (highs of 14C or so) I couldn't blame anyone for not wanting to get naked outdoors ! |
The Brighton ride
2010 was a landmark year!
After two years of disappointment (blame the odd weather!), let's hope for a good ride in the usual numbers. This year's organiser is expecting around a thousand participants (How many of them would be riding? Noone knows for sure). Just checked the FB page and here are the numbers: Going: 293, Maybe: 94 and lo and behold, Invited: 978 What does it mean? Nothing... social media plays a silly role nowadays. Frankly, who would really announce to the world they'd be going for sure? Many have even signed up six months ago! Casual riders (mostly men) would definitely be around, but what of the first-timers? Well let's brace ourselves for a bunch of Asian tourists heading for Southern Britain in droves! They simply don't see folks dangling their bits on the streets everyday :) |
OK UK based guys, buy another SD card and spare camera batteries, this weekend is the giant WNBR weekend and the forecast is SUPERB just about everywhere!!
Every forecast predicts 20C+ and strong sunshine for the whole of the UK. The Brighton ride FB page has gone into overdrive, since the sun came out, last weekend. At least 30 new people (mostly students) joined yesterday alone. Three young girls posted comments on their FB pages saying how they were so excited about riding and just hoped their friends would not take photos of them naked! I'm not a friend, so it's not a problem for me;) |

Latest weather shows (yet again) London having a scorching day, but Brighton now only getting a bright but cooler (only 16C:mad:)and breezy one. Hope it changes back to a sunny day! London is too difficult for me, but I hope to get to Brighton and will ride too, but only if it's a nice day!

There will be a WNBR (cyclonudista) running in Barcelona this year. It starts at the the Arc de Triomf -make sure to get lots of photos!

Southampton is OK, they normally get about 80 riders, but in the past the fully nude women have always been in single figures. You never know though, the weather is meant to be 21C and sunny for the early evening, when the ride happens.

My advice is to try to get to the stopping points. The start and end are the best, but other than that there are the various points along the route. Those video shots are better than the typical moving shots.
That would be good, although you would get the best footage by actually taking part since you would then be there for all the stopping points. As for uploading, I recommend Zippyshare.com I look forward to seeing your vids since I can't be there to make my own this time :( |

Filming at Southampton should be OK, but use zoom from a distance, DO NOT get close to the subject, or you may get in trouble. Keep an eye out for people posing for friends and then either use that moment, or even ask them if they will pose for you. Hang around and wait for the ride to return, an hour later. However the cooling evening usually means clothes go back on quickly. At Brighton, they are making a females only undressing area this year, however once naked and on a bike, they are 'fair game', do not get close with a camera when people are stripping, it's a volatile time. At Brighton, the two rest stops (if you can get to them both on foot) and the beach at the end are by far the best places for shots. People are relaxed by then. If you removed clothing (just in your shorts for example), you will have much more luck than dressed as a 'snapper' with a large camera bag. You will need to walk about 3 miles, pretty fast to cover all. I suggest stop two (the public park by the Dome) and the beach (Nudist one, by the marina) will be best. You may get frowned apon filming at the beach from the regular beach users (if there are any), but not from the riders who are full of exuberance by this stage and at their most un-inhibited having been nude for hours! Please try to get some still shots too. Good Luck! |

I'm heading to England a week following the London ride (that's no WNBR for me) before moving for the warm waters of the Iberian coast. One mate's (he's on the FB list) definitely hooked up with a lady friend (from what he told...) for the Marble Arch start - heard Hyde Park won't be as fully available as in the past.
Watch out for the Spanish ladies travelling all the way ... and that chick who featured in "My Daughter the Teenage Nudist". Throw in a couple of Dutch and Belgian girls too... you've covered practically all of Western Europe! :eek: Now to all those sickos out there who think that's a public naked fest for attention seekers (there are though!), well, you've got brainy girls and women attending - a little search on Google would Id a couple of them (but please keep that with you), and be prepared to be baffled. We all know they're brave and beautiful! That's enough for us. |

Potential problem at Brighton has just surfaced!
Since last year, the nice senior police guy who allowed full nudity has been replaced by another more prudish one. He is hoping all riders cover their lower regions. Not found anything yet, but 150 riders is the most this ride has ever had, looks a good omen for the other rides!

I have also taken the liberty of posting a Brighton 2009 photo of one of the 'pro' photographers who got naked at one of the rest stops and posed for those she was snapping, just uploaded by the same snapper as the Portsmouth one. A sort of taster for tomorrow!:):D:D |

Weather is just perfect! Can't tell about the female turnout but the numbers are mindblowing... but the balance will once more tip in favour of men... waiting for the better quality pics to surface.

Just back from Waterloo Bridge. its seems the cutie with the glasses lost both them and her underwear by then. Agreed she is very good looking. Great scenes on Waterloo Bridge sun and loads of riders there. Lady God1va was there but fully body painted this year
