Back in the summer of 1993 I took a friend out to Hippie Hollow one Saturday afternoon. He had never been there even though he grew up in Austin. We had planned on just walking around just so he could say he'd been there.

if you've never been there it's a bunch of large, flat rocks that go all the way to the water with trees behind the rocks. You really need good shoes to walk around there.

We stumbled into a clearing and I noticed what looked like a bunch of rose pedals on the ground and a group of people standing in a group. I just blurted "What the hell is this? A wedding". Somebody turned toward me and said "Yes, be quiet"!!!!

Sure enough there was a naked wedding taking place. Well, the bride had white stockings and heels. There was a woman performing the ceremony who was totally nude. The guests were all nude including a few minor children. This was before they incorporated the age limit.

We didn't think anyone would believe us but the Sunday Austin newspaper actually ran a story on the wedding.

That's back when Austin was truly "Weird". Now it's just the 11th largest city in the U.S. I miss the old Austin....

Shortly out of high school, one of the hottest girls in our class 'Lisa' told us she was going to Hippie Hollow that weekend with some friends to see what it was all about. She had no intention of going naked, just going to satisfy her curiosity. Naturally, that led to all sorts of fantasies...

A couple weeks later we ran into her and asked how the her visit went. Nope, the parking lot is at 7000 Comanche Trail, it’s $8 a car last time I went. Get there early on a weekend, it’s a lot more calm during the week. The center portion is where couples tend to hang out.

Any couples who find themselves in the ATX area during warm weather should really visit Hippie Hollow. Its a fun place to get naked, be seen by others and satisfy your exhibitionist tendencies. Be aware that photography of others without their permission will get you kicked out of the park, and the rule about "nude not lewd" is strictly enforced by park police. Play by the rules, save the sex for your hotel room later, and enjoy! As others have said, couples traditionally tend to congregate in the middle section of the park, while the far east end nearest the Oasis is predominately gay.

Entry fee is $8 per person (not per car), or $3/person if over 62, cash only, no credit cards or checks.

Curious how the vibe is now. Last time we went one of the regulars kept stealing the 2nd bathroom hose, which was supplied by another regular for use there. We know it's always changing and depends on the day.
