mutley's right about the UK meaning. Around the US it usually means "Eat me." As an insult, not an invitation.

That's what I thought.

My understanding was that the "fuck off" element was still there, but in the greater context of retaining one's archery fingers.

I say on to the fotos.

Clearly, I think that the tongue and fingers don't necessarily need to be together to qualify as Lickety Slit. It's more in the attitude and intent, which in these cases seems to fit.

Tomorrow I'll post fotos of a different gesture, which I think has a well established name. I just can't remember what it is. And as with the Lickety Slits, I know the meaning, but can't recall the name, and would like some help.

yes, but the "lickety split", if i may call it that (and yes i will yes), is a gesture that symbolizes spreading a woman's labia with the first two fingers (hence the split) and licking the clit (hence the lickety).

i appreciate the ancient military reference but in the current context - that of young women pretending to eat pussy - i'm pretty happy with "lickety split" meaning on it's own. they don't intend it to mean "fuck you", any more than Americans mean "up yours" by the thumbs up gesture.

the fact that thousands (millions?) of young women consent to being photographed with this as their plain intent (here i am pretending to eat pussy!) is truthful enough and good enough that no further commentary is necessary.

what's the name of this variation?

I shouldn't call it a variation, as it has a completely (still clearly sexual) meaning. And I kinda think this one has an established name. But it escapes me at the moment. Key feature: fingers straight out with ring finger pulled back.
What's it called? I've got some others with two fingers pulled back as well, the middle and ring. Don't know if they have the same or different meanings.

From Wikipedia...

Shocker
Main article: Shocker (hand gesture)
Example of the shocker.

The "shocker" is a crude gesture common in North America. It involves touching the ring finger to the palm, extending the thumb and extending the middle and pointer fingers while touching them together. This represents the act of putting the index and middle fingers in the vagina and the little finger in the anus to surprise or "shock" the recipient. This sign is commonly used in candid photographs to shock the photographer by making them think of the original meaning of the sign. Common Mnemonic devices to explain this are "two in the pink, one in the stink" "two in the clit, one in the shit" "two in the goo, one in the poo" and so forth. It is often confused with other similar gestures, such as the "pitchfork" gesture used by fans of Arizona State University or the "Cougar Paw" used by fans of the University of Houston. Conversely, the shocker gesture itself rapidly became popular at Wichita State University sporting events, due to the school's sports teams having been known as the Shockers (as in "wheat shocks") long before the gesture became popular. In the current Wichita State version of the gesture, the thumb does not cover the ring finger, but is extended outward from the palm.

including yet another form, with the ring and middle fingers pulled back. Is there another meaning? Or a different spin on the Shocker?
