Xingu is apparently correct (for the first several: all the pictures I checked) since that's the name they have at Flickr; that's apparently, though, only a generic term for any of the tribes (Kayapo, Suya, Juruna, Trumai: credit to amazon-indians.org) living in the Xingu Indigenous Park area...

Moving on to a closely related Xingu tribe, these pics are of the Kuikuma tribe. Note the women are a bit more "civilized". Oh well.....blame some American or Brit probably... Anyway, then I have a few more pics of some misc tribes. Knowing tribe names is very helpful in finding pics. A couple other tribe names to search on are the Bora, Matis, Yanomani and Arawete. Also, since we're talking South America here, try the spanish words for indian and tribe, "indios" and "tribo". KLondike |

some misc SA indian pics. I made note of the fact that some of these don't look that much different from pics of hippie and alt girls at various festivals in Europe and US. I mean, its all about tribalism - the mud people, rituals etc at most of these festivals. if you have any doubt about that, see my last pic, which is NOT an indios pic but is probably the most tribal looking of the lot :)
