This Firefox add-on allows you to select the RSS feed from any Picasa album. Then right-click and select "Down Them All". You;ll get all images from that album in full-size

First of all, this add-on doesn't work with IE, only Firefox.
Once installed, go to any album
Unless the user has deliberately disabled RSS, you should see this option available on the right side of your screen, just below the album name
When you click "RSS" you will get a different, vertical display of the album photos.
Right-click anywhere in that window (but NOT on a photo) and you should see the option for "Down Them All".
Select that option.
Note the location on the "Down Them All" screen where the files are being saved. Change that location if you like.

if they dont disable rss
does that mean that the download album option would still be available in the picasa menu?

seems to be the case, if you can downthemall with the rss feed then the download option is available in the picasa menu, if you need to dl the pics separately use explorer, less steps in dling the pic

Correct. If you only want a smallnumber of pics, I found it easier to select the individual pics, click the magnifying glass to show full-size, right-click and "show background image", then right-click that image and save.

If I want many pics in an album, or want to peruse them more easily on my PC, I use Down Them All

On flickr, there was a guy posting his wife under the name boater69

I don't think he's active anymore, and I never got access to his private pics, but I'd love to see them.

The thrill of the hunt ? Flickr is easy, as you say the rules on picasa make it a lot harder to find stuff, that is part of the "fun", I need a life I know

I have a few basic rules I play with, some may agree with them, some may not, but they are my rules.

I don't put up pictures from private albums
I don't post pictures of friends

Other than that the normal rules apply.
