Keg stands is not because its its an american thing its so the alchohal goes in the brain faster then anywhere else and it gets you drunk a ton faster.

Perhaps I am a bit slow but how does it make the alcohol absorb into the brain faster? Alcohol is absored through the bloodstream or at least that is my understanding of it, so I don't see how doing a keg stand would speed this up, but the pics certainly are great. :)

There is no real point to it, it's another form of a drinking game like quarters or a beer bong. Think about it this way, most of these are done at College Parties. Collegians are notoriously known for their bad taste in beer (Budweiser, Busch, Natty Light, etc). Would you really want to drink and savor those beers or would you rather get it down your throat as fast as possible?

There is reasoning behind a keg stand. What happens when you do a hand stand and remain that way for a few seconds? Blood rushes to your head and when you stand up again all that blood rushes back down and you feel dizzy some even faint. What happens when you consume a lot of alcohol? Everything gets fuzzy and some pass out. I doubt the point of a keg stand is to consume a massive amount of alcohol, though it does help, but the blood rush that results from being held up in the air like that. But who cares cause its a really good excuse to give a girl a helping hand ;)

Keg stands are just for the challenge, as mentioned, just another game. The longer you can go the "cooler" you are. Most people can't last more than 10 seconds.
