Isn't it funny how a woman's feeling of comfort or confidence can change with the simple power of another female leading the way?

Jane and I were recently in Ibiza and were on a small but quite busy beach. The beach was stoney and had flat rocks on one side that layered down towards the sea. We got there just after lunch and there wasn't much space on the beach so we headed over to the flat rocks just to the side of the main beach and set ourselves up there. Jane commented that she was going to keep her top on as she hadn't seen anyone else on the beach topless as we had walked along it. I just said 'fair enough' but thought it was strange as she had been topless all day every day for the previous 3 days at various different beaches.

Within an hour or so two other couples had joined us on the flat rocks and both of the women had taken their tops off. Jane and I returned to our spot on the rocks after a swim and Jane immediately removed her top and lay down to sunbathe. I didnt ask but I can only assume it was the fact that the other women near us on the rocks had gone topless had given her the shot of confidence needed to do likewise.

What I found most interesting is that despite the fact that the other two topless women put their tops back on to go swimming, once Jane had taken hers off it stayed off. We went for two more swims and both time she walked down from the rocks topless to enter the water from the beach. The second time we had agreed it was the last swim before we left and so when we got out the water Jane said she wanted to shower to get the salt water off and proceeded to walk the length of the beach, weaving in and out of all the people, to where the fresh water shower was. She was without doubt the only person on that beach that afternoon who had been so brazen with her toplessness.

There was a queue of 4 or 5 people waiting for the shower and Jane and I stood chatting and waiting for our turn. Jane was in front of me and an old couple behind me (I guess late 60s in age) asked me if I knew the time. I answered them and they instantly started chatting. Jane turned round to join in and I could see immediately that they hadn't spotted that she was topless or that we were together. They took it in their stride though and the 4 of us chatted for a couple of minutes until Jane was at the front of the queue.

I have to say, watching Jane rinse off under the shower was quite something! The cold water made her nipples as hard as rocks and there were lots of eyes on her. Once she was done it was my turn and Jane reignited the chat with the older couple while I showered. With her nipples erect and her body and hair wet it was all I could not to get an erection as I watched her chatting away as though it was the most normal thing in the world.

And all this after not wanting to take her top off a couple of hours earlier because no one else was!

my wife is still staying topless at beach, almost everywhere in every conditions..
she keeps her top on only if it clearly forbidden..

I know you're right but if that happens to me, I think I would be very sad.

Where did topless sunbathing go?
 

Topless sunbathing started becoming common in the late 80s and early 90s, although it was still a minority. In the late 90s it skyrocketed, and during the 2000s it was very frequent. I wouldn't say it was the majority, but almost. From 2010 onwards, it started to decline. It still happens now, but it's a minority. Young women don't do it, and many women who did it when they were younger have stopped. Back in the 2000s, a very high percentage of women in their 20s and 30s went topless. Going to the beach meant seeing more boobs than bikini tops, almost. Not anymore.

It's not entirely clear what happened. People talk about creeps, but they've always been around. People also point to smartphone cameras, which probably do play a role. Before, a girl risked an acquaintance seeing her and remembering her boobs for a while. Now, she risks that plus having her boobs circulated all over social media. But I also think a puritanical wave is sweeping across Europe. And it's not a left-wing or right-wing issue. It's across the board. It's a shame that a large part of society is going back to seeing nudity and sex as something dirty.

Obviously, there are places that are an exception. From what I've heard, it's still very common in Croatia. And I'm not including nudist beaches here, which are a different story. I'm referring to regular ("textile") beaches where topless sunbathing became the norm and has now lost a lot of ground

A few "acquaintances" have seen my wife's boobs and I'm sure remember them from time to time. I do love that fact, but wish I'd been able to see a few acquaintance's pair for boobs too, particularly tgat Spanish bird's. Missus was on the phone ti her husband last night. The thought of my wife and her lying in a Spanish beach topless chatting is top of my bucket list

It's definitely dying out. I've seen it decline over the past few years. I've been to Barcelona three times over the past ten years. The first time there were lots of topless women, three years ago there were less but still quite a number, but this year very few. In Mallorca this summer there were no more than a handful of women topless on the beach and none at the hotel pools. In Greece I didn't see a single topless women.

I remember how quickly topless sunbathing stopped being the norm in France in the 2000s. I went in early 2000 and there were lots of topless women on the beach - at least a third - and even quite a few at the pool at the campsite where I was staying. Went back about five years later and almost no women were topless. I couldn't believe how quickly it had changed. I fear the same thing is happening in Spain now. It's no longer seen as normal and is only practiced by a few diehards.

Yes I agree. It is a sad state of affairs. The biggest thing I'm sad about is that it would have been very common to have seen the boobs of a few female friends if holidaying with them: it just would have happened round the pool and at the beach. And as I posted up a few posts that exact thing was the case with my wife in the very early 2000s with a few of the lads having that fantastic memory of her and freinds' tits. My mother in law too I know thought nothing of whipping them out in front of their friends on hols, as did her female friends. These days that casual toplessness, almost expected toplessness, would not happen. And sadly I was too late to go on a holiday like that with female friends to experience such a wonderful thing.

However I think now I've found where toplessness is still rife. Spanish nude beaches in Catalonia typically have one half nude, one half not. From my experience and a few conversations with others on the matter, on the nude beach section pretty much all women are topless at very least. But even on the none nude section about half the women go topless. So I just make sure we book our beach holidays accordingly now so at least I can enjoy the sight of my wife's tits, and the breasts of the majority of the other women there, even if I know I'll never get to see female friends' casually exposing theirs.

So it's sad what you say about the Barcelona beaches you were on having pretty few topless women. However if you sought out the nude beaches, even if yilou stuck to the non nude section, I suspect it would be a lot lot more women with their breasts out. I was literally talking to someone last week who'd just come back from Barcelona and said it was rife on the right beach.

I've read elsewhere that topless/nude sunbathing is on the decline sadly. I was lucky enough to spend a month in NW France every summer between 1987 & 1990.

The first amazement was when we visited a nearby beach the holiday rep had recommended, I saw 2 nude teen babes (Dutch I think) when I went to the ice-lolly stand!

The rep had told my Dad to avoid the nude section by turning left at the end of the path but he forgot & turned right lol. I remember him telling this story to my uncle & how embarrassed he was that I had seen naked women :D

Because I found this out, the next day I decided to walk the 3km & back to the nudist beach while my parents were away so I could ogle, the first time I'd ever seen real naked women & these were prime specimens! I do believe this experience was the beginning of my voyeurism.

Then I thought why not try the local beach just 1km away? To my amazement topless & the occasional nude girl were there too. You could walk up & down a raised boulevard & look down at sunbathing beauties. I vividly remember one young French stunner about 23 standing up to apply sun-tan lotion all over her incredibly firm naked body in full view of several elderly local Frenchmen playing 'boules'.

The men to their credit mostly concentrated on the game but I saw a few admiring glances. As I turn 50 this month I'm so jealous, it must have been wonderful for these 65-75 retired old men to have a few games of boules, glasses of vin rouge in lovely weather while subtly ogling nearby topless & naked young honeys.

Well my wife still goes topless or naked at the beach.
Naked usually only at designated beaches or when they are totally deserted.
Topless depends on the beach and if there are other women also topless.
She's probably not going the only one topless on a more crowded beach.
When there are few people around, she might go topless even when she would be the only one.

Now luckily, she's never been a prude. On some occasions even more of an exhibitionist.
She doesn't mind people (guys) looking at her breasts or naked body.
Just as long as they do it in a polite, non-intrusive way.

Her sister has the same mindset, so I have seen her naked many times already.
Mainly when we go to the sauna, but also at the beach.
Too bad they are the only ones that would do so. Specially when there are others around they know.
I know some other women who claim to go topless, but only while on holiday when nobody is around they know.
But most just don't even think about going topless or naked.

Same here, too many prude Americans. but my wife will go topless wherever it is allowed.......even if she is the only one. She draws a lot of attention, but just laughs.....it's like they never saw breasts before! Sometimes it just takes someone to get it started........several times we have been somewhere and she will be the only one taking her top off and a bit later some other women will follow.
