Cyprus,particularly Nissi beach its few and far between. And not officially any nice beacyesei5ger. The odd beach where people risk it's usually men. And just back from Italy. Again, hardly any topless bathing

I too am saddened by how conservative women are being these days (but thanks to cellphones, I understand). Granted, the up-the-ass bikini bottoms have become pretty standard, but I miss nipples kissing the sky.

Luckily, I have a spouse who isn't so prudish...will be at Desire Riviera Maya next month and can guarantee no prudishness on anybody's part.

From the beaches I've visited the last decade, the beaches of Gran Canaria and Barcelona stood out. On those beaches there were far more topless women than average, although it still was a minority.

At Maspalomas beach the topless women were mostly older (45+), at Playa de Amadores there were more younger women topless.

Our hotel at Gran Canaria had a large swimming pool. Around the swimming pool there were topless women, but again a minority and mostly older (45+).

Of course, this is just my experience. It might be different next time I visit. :)

Same here in NZ, we rarely see an topless these days.. not sure if it's the fear of being capture on a phone or just a shift in the mentality generally... hard to tell.

Sadly, I must agree.
Twenty years ago, it was normal for wife and me to take long, completely naked strolls on our beach, just 60 miles from home. We usually met other nude people, and a lot of topless women.
Now we would probably be arrested, or taken to the asylum.

That's why we started to spend our holyday abroad (France, North Europe).

I agree with this situation. We are from France and my wife have ever been topless topless over the years, since ever.
She's 47 now and still goes topless at the beach.
At some point she says that she will continue this "French tradition" and talks about everywhere around. Everybody knows that she goes topless at the beach.
She even no bra the whole year under her clothes and whe she comes to the beach, she has no bikini top at all.

The place we usually go in France is place where topless continues to be the rule, even if there less than before.
We can see topless from every age, young to old and even families. (daugters and mother, sisters, etc.)
We again, less than before and it depends the days too. Someday you'll se around up to 20 girls topless around you and the next day 5. Really depends.

But was has changed is that my wife keeps her top on know at the swimingpool or at the lake when there is no other woman doing so. She'll remove her top if at least one other does it.
But at the beach, she doesn't care, even if she's alone.

Every summer, the biggest news outlet always interviews a woman who does her best to remind people that it is perfectly legal for women to be topless in our city and our city parks/beaches, but I have never, ever seen a topless woman here (other than the woman on TV who they interview with her toplessness blurred out).

Huge bummer! But the harassment isn't worth it, I am sure.

Camera and mobile free beaches
 

Everyone have a supercomputer with a supercamera connected to a super network that can share a picture or video to all mankind within seconds. For most people, having a topless or nude picture spread on the internet is a personal disaster.

Only solution is to have camera and mobile free beaches, but that's not possible on public beaches.

Agree with wellness and others above. My wife says the advent of smart phones and the Internet has killed topless sunbathing for the next generation. "If you were a beautiful 20 or 30 something why would you risk ending up on a porn site"?

She also confirmed that, where there were topless sunbathers in close proximity it certainly gives shy girls confidence to shed their tops; as mentioned the other day when all the topless girls were on one bit of the beach - wife confirmed this was why so many were together and would help her, and any women, pluck up the courage to shed their top if enough other topless women were in close vercinity.

I did a bit of crude estimation and maths today and reckon about 5% of the women were topless. Thiscseemed high when thinking of it in thebcontext of what I wascseeing. However, I think maybe 20-30 years ago a range of 30-70 % was more typical dependant upon beach.

Today's smart phones, what would be a critical mass minimum % that would start to tip the balance to those sort of figures. I guess if you had a minimum number it would likely gather momentum. And is there still anywhere like that in the world.
