It's a little too early to start a 2021 thread, but I just wanted to spread the word that B2B is scheduled for August 22nd this year, which is amazing news. Not only is it exciting to have the event return after a one year absence, but pushing it back from it's typical early May time slot should encourage maximum nudity, which has been highly temperature-dependent in past years. So here's to hoping that hot weather combined with some post-pandemic exuberance will make it a banner day for fit runners getting their kit off.

Sorry to be a downer but SF is freezing in the summer.

"The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

I think it depends on what someone's definition of freezing is. My wife and I have been naked on Baker Beach in April, and it was just fine. We've also been on the nude beaches in Australia in what is technically their "winter" and it was fine. In both cases, we are talking about temperatures in the mid 60's (F). From looking at the monthly temperature averages for San Fran below, it really looks like there isn't much variation in temperatures, so one month re-scheduled for Bay (Bare) 2 Breakers is basically good as any other (but it would be marginally better to have it in late Summer):

San Francisco, CA

Oh boy. I didn’t expect a backlash for posting some positive news. Believe me, I’m familiar with the climate in the Bay Area. Terms are relative.

The average high temp (which is all that matters for an event that takes place in the late morning/early afternoon) in SF in May is 65. The average high temp in August is 69.

So yes, it’s warmer in August than in May, and yes there’s a greater chance for nudity-friendly weather in August vs. May. In past events, the warmer the weather, the more we’ve seen people getting naked. What the weather gods will actually deliver to us, is anyone’s guess.

I should also mention that August gets about 1/5 as much rain as May. Sunshine plays a huge part in helping people get their kits off, perhaps even more so than air temps.

I'm a Bay Area native so I can with much expertise attest to the climate of SF in August. Generally speaking the Bay Area tends to hit its hot weather streak in late July through the end of September. May on the other hand can have days where the weather is chilly along with the odd rainy day, as with what happened back in 2019 when it dumped on us on the morning of B2B. So there is a much better chance for warm weather with B2B being held in August as oppose to May. That said I wouldn't get your hopes too high on there being lots of nudity at B2B this year. Lots of people come in from out of town for B2B, not sure how active travel is going to be come summer time so fingers crossed but don't get your hopes too high.
