Look, not saying either of you are wrong, especially bayrummy; that's a compelling argument.
But the fact of the matter is that according to traditional Jewish law, any Jew who has gotten a tattoo of any kind is not allowed to be buried in a Jewish cemetery. I know this because my now-ex is Jewish & has a fairly sizeable tattoo on her hip of an ankh. She's told me she loves it & doesn't regret getting it, but she's concerned whether she'll be allowed to be buried in her family's plot because of it.
Seeing as she's actually Jewish (from Long Island, no less) and I'm not, she's the de facto subject matter expert on this topic over here. I'm just sharing what I've been told by someone who knows better than I (and, no offense, likely knows better than you guys, sorry). Hope it clears things up a little.
