This one comes from way back - late 1970s I think - but embarrassing reactions don't date...

Again I thought I had seen this one on here but can't see it now. From Australia. If you are watching on VLC media player, change the aspect ratio to 16:10 and it will look less squashed up.
I thank you for your thanks. |

Another old British ad.
Thanks to the people who said thanks, but not many. Maybe old TV ads are too tame? |
Miss Dunlop

Coming across this thread while trawling through the video archives, it's surprising what you find in your archives, and I think this UK advert will happily suit this thread. It's from 1970, and about the various things that Dunlop provided for people. But the main interest is the bored blonde tennis player, who as her ball, racket and playing surface all disappears before her eyes, she realizes all too late what the next thing will be to disappear - leaving her suitably embarrassed.

Dunlop advert - Sports Day (1971)

Another Dunlop advert I came across, this tells of all the many various things Dunlop materials are used for, ending with the slogan "You'd be surprised how much you'd miss Dunlop." I suspect those who remember these adverts already do. This advert starts and ends with women competing at sports events, with the main three podium girls stood on ceremony being presented with medals, only to see first their tracksuits disappear, then their running gear, leaving the embarrassed trio in just their bra and knickers as they desperately try and hide themselves from the gaze of the crowd. I've also slowed that scene at the end for you all.
Oh, and as for the girl in the previous Miss Dunlop advert above? It turns out it's Carol Hawkins from Please Sir! sitcom fame. You get to see a lot more of her in the films Zeta One (1969) and Not Now Comrade (1976), where she appeared topless. Ironically she refused to do Carry on England the same year because of having to appear topless in one scene! |
