Thanks

Thank you Slick for the reply, wasn't really expecting one, so thanks. This Miley thing keeps raising it's head. I would just like to make it known to all involved in this, that it was not me who posted anything on Miley, as I said before I have never posted anything on that site. as far as I'm concerned It sails too close to the wind, IE, to easy to post the wrong thing, and I for one still think it is happening, but you don't want to hear about that.
Anyway, everyone who took the time to talk to me...Thank You.

Cheers Michael.

I usually don't say much - but wtf. I really cant understand the total panic that caused my favorite thread - celebrities - to be shut down. Who complained that has so much power that the mods reacted this way - it must have been one of the mods themselves. regarding the effort to remove reposts or professional pictures, it can't be much more effort than all of the threads that are deleted or moved on a regular basis.

Two final thoughts - if we are concerned about breaking the rules about posting - why isn't the mooning thread closed or the self posed pics thread? Clearly many of the posts in those two threads are of minor girls - but I never see any warnings, or deletions or threats of closure there. Isn't posting minors a bigger issue than posting professional celeb pictures?

And finally - I'm still steaming about my ichc webcam videos and caps being deleted. When I asked why, I got some answer about copyright. But I capped them myself, so who has copyright? When I asked the mod that actually deleted them, I got no answer at all. But worst of all - I was banned from many of the rooms in ichc. How did this happen? How did they finger me? Who knows - but it is very suspicious that my posts disappeared on OCC at the same time that the ichc rooms banned me.

Lets see how long this post stays up....

This forum used to be fun - but the selective application of the rules really sucks.

Okay, so let me address everything in order now:

It wasn't one single person that complained and it wasn't one person that had the power to close the thread, it was a collective decision among the staff. It was also not done in panic or as a sudden decision, it's been discussed for quite some time. At this point, it's still undecided if the closure is temporarary or permanent. There have been constant reports/complaints about reposts, debates on what's considered oops/candid verses what's not, professional photos posted over and over. It just didn't end and as many times as people were reminded nobody wanted to listen. It's not about the effort it takes to monitor/delete content it's people not wanting to follow the rules no matter how many times it was either posted in the thread or told to them directly. Since last year nothing in that thread has been an "isolated incident", it's been the same problems over and over.

The rule we always want everyone to follow is "if you question their age before posting, don't post it". We hope everyone follows that rule and we try to remove any photos that are questionable or that have been reported. If you feel there are underage photos in those threads please report them.

We received a formal DMCA complaint about the webcam videos, so they had to be removed. You can choose to believe that or not, but I assure you that's the truth. In this case, the website would hold the copyright, since they were hosting the content you recorded.

Why would your post here be deleted? Everyone has the right to ask questions and question what we do. We only ask people remain civil and not go on a tirade....like the countless amount of times people have done so in the Celeb Oops and Candids thread.

Thanks for taking the time to answer each of the issues I raised Slick. When I first asked about the DCMA, it wasn't explained to me that the website owned the copyright to whatever was broadcast on that site. So does that mean that Skype owns everything broadcast on Skype, and every other webcam service the same (Tinychat, Stickam (in the old days) Omegle, etc?

While I would like to avoid any legal discussion about copyright (only because this really isn't the place to discuss it) a service like Skype is a bit different. Skype is a messaging client while tinychat, stickam and omegle were/are chatroom based with live streaming video hosted on a website.

Just generally, I would also like a little bit more transparency when it comes to deleting posts.

I posted a new photo I found in two separate threads. Woke up this morning to see that one of the posts had been deleted. For me, the photo fit the description of the two threads, and yet my post was seemingly deleted.

A PM wouldn't go astray in this situation. I was given no indication why this happened. I'm a fairly respected poster I would have thought, and I'm constantly on the look out for new content to post, but scenarios like this make me second guess whether I should ever post new finds.

As explained many times previously, the Moderators delete so many things every day that we simply do not have time to send a Private Message about each one of them. However, we are always happy to answer any questions about why we deleted something. Since you asked, your post was removed because you broke this rule:

22. Please do not create duplicate posts featuring the exact same pictures across multiple threads or sections. Instead, please choose ONE thread (or start a new one) where you think those pictures will be most appropriate and upload them there only.

Fair enough. Good response.

Copyright in a work belongs to the original creator of the work. It does not transfer to a hosting website. The website normally asks for a licence to publish the work to cover their own arse.

There are a lot of misconceptions regarding copyright, that is but one.
this is a good place to start your research
