my slightly overly enthusiastic response to this event (sans adequate research) reminded me a little of when I touted the Crescent Bar topless partying in Eastern Washington in this thread:

https://forum.oneclickchicks.com/show...t=crescent+bar

In both threads, I jumped the gun a bit in proclaiming the event unique or of historical importance. The locations are not crowded beaches. More precisely, what you have is an organized party on a remote stretch of sand that has traditionally seen occasional nude (not legal) use. Anyway, these two events are similar, and like cousins to the well known boat party events.

as a reminder, a few pics from Crescent Bar...

its still pretty exciting to see this in the US - so I'm suffering from a little wishful thinking...? :)

South Beach is a topless beach, and known for the 'posers' who are there to show off and be seen. It is at the far south end of the 'island' of Miami Beach. At the north end (about 12 miles) just before reaching the county line, is Haulover Beach. Haulover is the only recognized legal nude beach in Florida (and close enough for my wife and I to visit regularly :D ). For those old enough to remember (I was born here so I grew up knowing these places), it's wedged between famous hotels of old like Sahara, Newport to the north, and Fountainbleau, Eden Roc, Deauville (where the Beatles performed), to the south.

Of course there are those who want it closed. There are varying ways they try to put pressure on the folks. Right now, they are trying to annex part of the limited parking lot, and give it to a marina for expansion. In the past, they've fought with the city over bathroom facilities, consessions, ADA access. Whatever they can find to make people say "It's not worth it.". Of course, there are developers who see that stretch of beach as prize development land (if you look to the north and to the south, it's a wall of concrete). But the folks are doing a fantastic job keeping it open to the c/o crowd. This weekend it will be wall to wall people. We've met people from all over who come just to visit the beach and get naked, because they've heard how nice it is. I highly encourage anyone visiting the S. Florida area, to try to make plans to spend at least one afternoon there. You won't regret it.
