Jotoyourwife,

Hopefully this comes across as constructive criticism...? But, you need to tweak your settings on the plugins to avoid the overcooked effects. i.e. bring the sliders back a bit on some, but more is required on the other sliders.

Below is an example of what I mean using the same plugins but with "tweaked" settings. I'm happy to give some tips if you (or others) want some, or you can just tell me to go to hell..!

On the subject of the plugins - they are great fun, aren't they!

Did this one when someone asked for it ...

I pulled these two pictures off another thread ... before and after . I tried to fix a very small and damaged picture for a fellow who asked for help ... he said he liked the change .

Kev, on that one I deliberately went way over the top and with it, but your version looks really really awesome. Love to share tips with you sometime!

Guys,

Tip.1
The first thing you need to get right is the white balance. Look on you tube for some videos showing you how to set the white balance on whatever program you are using - this should be your first step before you even start playing with the plugins.

Below (while not perfect) is a very quick example of how by adjusting the white balance, you lose the color cast that appears on the base image. Once I have the color somewhat sorted, only then do I move onto the actual edit/plugin.

Also, another simple way in Photoshop is create a new layer, click on > Image, > Adjustments, > Curves, then hit auto - this isn't the best, but it is somewhere for you to begin if you have never played with adjustments..

white balance

Here is another example of white balance.

The first image is nice enough, but with the white balance and sharpening applied, it becomes a totally different image. This has not had the plugins added yet and you can see a distinct difference.

Hope this helps?
