I think most people understand and know zips. Click on a zip and any computer will open.
rar takes a bit more knowledge or addtional program.
BTW, What is a .rar advantage?

The RAR format allows very large files to be segmented in multiple compressed files (RAR) for transmission. Then when all of the segments are received and placed into the same folder they can be decoded and uncompressed into the original huge file. This works fine for movies and other large video files. HOWEVER you must have ALL of the segments for it to work. Any missing and the remainder files are useless.

Pretty much the same as a .zip.
Trouble is that when we try to download .rar decoders we get all kinds of other junk, including a new browser.

I've never been able to successfully download a rar program. So a rar formatted file is all disadvantage to me.

Having issues with Rar files????

If you are having issues with rar files, check out "Free RAR extract frog" I have been using it for years with no problem at all.... I find it much easier that a zip file....

You can read reviews and info about it on CNET downloads...

WinRAR should get the job done - free to use for first month - if things have not changed. This is what I used for years when I ran a Windows machine.

I run Linux now - so use ARK.
