I saw The Birds in Brooklyn recently. Adapted from the ancient Greek play, this version is in that genre of theatre that combines a meager plot with drawn-out dance-y parts. It's the sort of thing that doesn't usually hold my attention for a full 2 hours, and for as good as the performers were, this one was no exception.

But then there were the boobs.

Based on the few promotional materials I'd seen, I'd guessed that there was a chance this thing had a nude scene of some sort, but I didn't really know and didn't expect much. TL;DR: no full frontal, but some really great toplessness. Not knowing what to expect and seeing how far they would go with it was a big part of the joy of it for me, but probably the best part was just how casual they were about it.

About a quarter of the way in, the "birds" show up, including the five main women in the show. While they act like birds in the story and sometimes make bird noises, they're dressed like people (so, sorry to those of you with feather fetishes, I guess). And a couple minutes after they show up, during one of the dance-type things, one of the women, wearing a halter dress, casually untied it at the neck and lowered the top part of it, exposing perky medium-small boobs -- a little larger than I'd have expected. She kept dancing with the rest of the group as if nothing were different, until the scene ended a couple minutes later, at which point she tied her dress back up while giving a knowing smirk to the audience. For as casual and sexy as this was, I still wouldn't have guessed that this was just the beginning of the boobs. :)

One reason I didn't expect much more was that the halter dress woman was also the most skimpily dressed. I also had some hope for a woman with tattoos all down one arm who was wearing a sleeveless dress, but the cutest girl had visible bra straps and the last two (also damn cute) were wearing dresses with sleeves and floor-length floofy skirts. Well, in the next dance segment, all the birds started taking off an article or two of clothing, which seemed like a good sign, and, lo and behold, tattoo arm woman pulled her whole dress off, leaving her only wearing some shiny leggings-style shorts. Her breasts were small, but perfect, she had a stereotypical dancer's physique, and even from my seat I could see how perky her nipples were.

A few moments later, I noticed that there was an unexpected (and incredible) bonus: bra strap girl had one arm out of both dress and bra, and had pulled them down to expose her right boob! It was just as cute as she was, of course. All three of these boobs stayed out for not just the dance part but also the next talking scene; at least five minutes, probably longer, though they had their backs to the audience or were out of view for significant bits of that. But then, for even more added bonus, when arm tattoo girl put her dress back on, bra strap girl just pulled her dress up enough to cover her (or maybe it just happened to creep up on its own at that point) without putting the straps back on, so her nip was visible again a few times over the next scene or two.

A little over halfway in, they invite whoever wants to to come on stage. Unfortunately, this particular theater is cramped in a way that makes it nearly impossible to get past people, so you're kinda stuck if you're not on the aisle, but fortunately, I had a pretty good view. As the audience members finish filing onto the stage area, the actors all start stripping. Halter girl's top came down again, arm tattoo's dress came off (and she didn't even hold onto it this time), and bra strap girl rolled her dress down to her waist and removed her bra (which was either a sports bra or a non-lacy bralette). The last two even joined in at this point: one took off her dress to reveal a grey bra and a large skirt, while the other rolled down the top of her dress, showing a black bra. I lost track of grey bra at this point, but after pausing for 5 seconds or so, black bra unhooked her bra and threw it in the backstage area.

It seems like joining the group onstage would be a gamble. They definitely were a lot closer to the actors, but they mostly stayed in a big group on one side of the stage, so it's not clear to me how many of the women they could see from there. From my seat, most of the boobs were a little hard to make out for most of this sequence, since the actors were in the back part of the stage and the lighting was on the dim side. Luckily, black bra was standing towards the front of the group, in a spot with a bit more light, where she was very visible for almost all of this scene. She was very cute; her breasts were almost medium-sized, not really hanging down at all but unmistakably 3-dimensional. And then, one more treat: in the last 30 seconds of this part, I spotted grey bra again, with no bra in sight. She was also beautiful, with the biggest boobs of the 5 main women, hanging down a bit but definitely not droopy. (Not that I have anything against droopy, I'm just hitting the limits of my vocabulary here :) )

As the audience retook their seats, black bra left the stage, grey bra's bra reappeared, and arm tattoo put her dress back on. But fear not, the next scene is at least as good! In this part, grey bra, halter, and bra strap get a talking scene to themselves. Grey bra's grey bra is back, but the other two haven't covered up at all. The scene is well lit, the dialogue is funny, and this is probably the closest the actors get to the audience. I don't know if it's as good as getting the full 5/5 (or should I count it as 10/10) in the previous scene, but this one was definitely the sexiest part of the show for me for some reason.

That's about it for interesting nudity. The girls onstage completely reassemble their costumes. Bra strap's sports bra even reappears from wherever it was before she pulls her dress back into place -- I'd love to know what went through the mind of whoever decided when this woman would or wouldn't have a bra on, though I doubt there's an answer beyond, "I dunno, it's Art." Black bra eventually comes back playing a different character, and she has some nipple exposure, but I found it rather unsexy given the context. And once the gods show up, an actress we hadn't seen yet was in quite a daring toga. She was pretty careful with it, with much more restrained dance moves than everybody else in the scene, but I'm still 50% sure I saw at least one nip slip and 100% sure I saw some excellent sideboob.

So yeah, if you can stay awake through the rest of it, and you're not bothered by the lack of full frontal, then I'd definitely recommend The Boobs. Birds. I definitely said The Birds, I swear.

I haven't seen if this is playing elsewhere, and the Brooklyn shows are all sold out, but you can at least get a bit of a teaser from the video and photos here (which appear to be from when they premiered it in Greece, but have most of the same people and similar costumes):

I saw the show last night. Sophie Cookson, a beauty, strips down to full frontal nudity but she soon covers up with her hands. Neve McIntosh goes casually bottomless for a couple of minutes with her hairy pussy front and center and the subject of some discussion by the two guys in the scene.

The theatre has amphitheatre seating so each row is a level up and the sightlines are good. The lighting is slightly lowered for Sophie Cookson as the scene is about the guy - Killer Joe - seducing her and telling her to get undressed - it's at the end of the first act. Neve McIntosh actually opens the show by going to answer the door bottomless then walks around like that for a short scene so she is quite exposed. If she wasn't so bushy you'd probably see lips but she is, so...

Re being blocked by Orlando Bloom - who is a big guy - it's possible. He's downstage centre, she's upstage left (audience left, that is) so the lower rows to the right of centre might be blocked. People on the left side will have no problem unless you've got a vase of flowers partially in the way - as I did.

It was bushy as in untidy - not thick like a merkin. I believe it was her real hair and I was quite close to her.

Can anyone who’s been to see ‘Killer Joe’ give more details about Sophie’s nude scene: How long is she naked for, does she move around, do you see her butt?

Also - had anyone seen ‘Trainspotting live’ at the Vaults - there’s meant to be nudity in that. It’s a very intimate venue, where Hair was on at, and the girls in the cast look hot.

It actually wasn't. I got a video of the whole show from a private bootleg trader and then edited it down. This particular recording is really rare and besides the person that filmed it, I'm pretty sure I'm one of the only people that has it.

And no, they don't, and I none of the private traders I know have it either. I'll let you know if anything turns up.

Just a heads-up that "Torn Out Theater" (who put on that spectacular nude all-female production of "The Tempest") are at it again in August, this time with a mixed gender production of a 17th century play "The Rover". To me these productions are a Holy Grail of public and stage nudity thrown together:

1. It's FREE
2. It's in broad daylight
3. It couldn't be more public (no walls at all)
4. There are 8 separate performances over 2 weeks!

All we got from "The Tempest" were (mostly) "officially-sanctioned" video snippets and pics - let's hope that this time at least one person in a city of 8.5 million people will take some sneaky-cam vid/pics and share them with us! Dayam, if I didn't live on exactly the opposite side of the world I'd be there every performance - in the audience with a discrete mini-cam, or sitting on a park bench 50 metres away and zooming in, or using a helmet or bike-mounted Go-Pro..

Our friend TOONCES apparently got some good video and offered to share it with us (even asking for advice on how to do so - I suggested Mega), but a few members got so taken up with "legal argument" about filming in public places, that it seems he lost interest! I went to see it. The show is 40 minutes. Dani comes out on stage in clothes and immediately strips fully nude. She dances solo for about 25 minutes and then is joined by an already naked Evangelia. They dance together for about 10 minutes, and then Evangelia dances solo for the last 5 minutes. Both girls come out for the curtain call with clothing on.

They both have small breasts. They both have very nice round and small bums. Dani has a full (probably natural) bush. Evangelia has pubic hair as well, but it seemed trimmed. Both girls showed off their bodies very explicitly and neither left any aspect of their body to the imagination. Dani especially had several open leg poses where you could clearly see her very sexy vaginal opening. She also had some poses where she was crawling away from the audience, and you could see her anus.

I saw Killer Joe last week. Very dark play, but very entertaining. I don't recommend going just for the nudity, though the nudity was excellent. There are two female nude scenes.

The first is Neve McIntosh's. She's 46 years old. Her scene opens the play. She's bottomless but not topless. It's somewhat dimmly lit, but you can definitely see her full bush and her ass as she walks around. The scene lasts a couple minutes. I think it's her real bush. She got naked in the film Salvage (2009), and her pussy looks like it did in that film.

Of course, the best part is seeing Sophie Cookson's nude scene. It's at the very end of the first act and lit fine. If you don't know who she is, look her up. She is extremely hot. Joe asks Sophie's character Dottie to go get into a dress. She comes back holding the dress, but still in casual clothes. Joe asks her to strip naked. She takes off her shirt, and then her pants. She's standing there in just bra, panties, and socks. Then she takes off the socks. Joe asks her several times to take off her bra. Eventually, she unhooks it, revealing her magnificent breasts. They are small and perfect. Finally, he asks her to pull off her panties, which she does. You get a quick view of her sexy trimmed bush, and then she covers herself down there with her hands. She stands there totally naked (but covering her pussy) for a few moments. She reaches for the dress and puts it on, and while she does that, you get a couple more views of her sexual bits. And it is gorgeous. I sure won't forget that quick view between Sophie's legs. She's one of today's hottest actresses and now when I see her in a film, I can think to myself that I've seen her vagina in person.

All told, you get to see her breasts quite clearly for about a minute. You get to see her pussy very briefly a few times during that minute, but you definitely do get to see it. You do not see her ass.

As far as seats, someone else mentioned it, but if you sit on the right side, your view may be blocked. Also, the second row (which is called "A") is not elevated, so it's no good. The best seats for nudity would be B7, C9, and D17. Orlando Bloom is travelling this week and a week in a month and there are plenty of good seats left for those shows. Of course, he may be the reason you want to go in the first place... oh, and he does get naked (rear), so be aware that there is male nudity, right at the start of act 2.
