A lot of riders arent even (near to) naked.. so, its just a normal bike ride. and poor weather doesnt help..

maybe whole thing needs to be made mandatory nude, and later in year..

Indeed, I agree with you, should be mandatory and July or August, but many are out of the country for holidays.

The solution could be, to ride in a park where only naked riders allowed, like in the London Zoo, I'm sure many more
naked and specially women.

Edinburgh report, more from London & Brighton
 

Edinburgh was as usual nothing to speak about. It's very slowly getting more daring with the amount of nude flesh, but they take the police recommendation about no exposed genitals depressingly seriously. Coupled with the fact that it's actually not a bad city to cycle round and being very small c conservative, it's unlikely to ever be anything more than a sideshow. From the pics I've seen so far of yesterday, three cute topless girls and the same again in swimsuits etc, will post when there's anything worthwhile.

London & Brighton, well, from what I've seen there's a load of stuff scattered in galleries of say 30 or 40 photos, but worth looking for if you've the patience. Here's a few from various sources with a special mention for Flickr user DaXve-CoXol (remove Xs)- again, frustratingly fewer than usual but then so was the ride.

And finally a treat for anyone who's still wondering what the voluptuous blonde Santander girl would have looked like three years ago and typically in mauve framed glasses; here's your answer!

She rode London/Bristol/Manchester/Brighton in 2014, was also at Bristol this year.

Funnily enough, though the World Naked Bike Ride has several stated aims, allowing participants to be photographed so their sexual organs can be studied on porn websites is not one of them. The organisers have to accommodate the aims of the protest, the riders, and the requirements of the local police, they are not going to mess about with the rules to make the ride more porn-friendly, particularly as this would put off lots of potential riders and get in the way of promoting the message (no-one wants their cause associated with porn).

There's a lot of grumbling on here from photographers complaining that the organisers are losing opportunities for publicity by stopping them taking pictures, but all they are doing is protecting the riders from intrusive photographers. There are hundreds of pictures and videos of all the rides, and photographers for media outlets will have press accreditation from the organisers so the "lost opportunity" argument doesn't hold any water. I suspect the only people trawling Flickr and other internet sites for photos from the ride are participants and perverts like us.

The exhibitionists who ignore the police instruction to keep pre-ride nudity inside the staging area are a minority and don't represent the most of the riders. I overheard more women refuse consent to be photographed than agree this year and a lot of disparaging comments about the photographers (such as "weirdos"). While long-range photography during the ride is expected, even encouraged, close up shots of individuals are only supposed to take place with the subject's permission, and there were posters all around the staging area at Brighton reminding all participants of this.

If you make nudity mandatory, that will reduce the number of female participants (the ones only happy to go topless or in underwear) and shift the demographic of the event away from enthusiastic activists and more towards deliberate exhibitionists. Fewer women will have a snowball effect, as the women who are happy to go naked in a mixed-gender group but feel less comfortable surrounded by predominantly men also drop away. That will make the event less attractive both to us and to media outlets. I know there are a couple of international rides where full nudity was prohibited - it wouldn't surprise me if these had a higher female-male ratio than the bare-as-you-dare rides, perhaps someone who was at one can give an opinion?

The main factor (in Brighton at least) that determines the number of female attendees and the level of nudity on display is out of the organisers' control - the weather. London and Brighton chose last week's date because it fell during National Bike Week. It wouldn't surprise me if most viewers of these photographs didn't know that, which again suggests that nudity itself does not necessarily increase awareness, and why more nudity and/or photos of nudity is not the organisers' main focus.

Yep, I got a couple of him riding a bike in Brighton. He does take part in the ride, just so he can get snapped with attractive girls. When he's not wandering about with his willy scaffold on display, he makes amateur porn movies.

So here's the *best* of what I've found from Edinburgh last Saturday. It does feel somehow more personal posting pics when there are so few topless girls in the ride, so I'll not post more from this year regardless of what more might surface. You may feel that it's all that the level of nudity warrants, anyway, but despite that I would love to see any more!

Two bits of trivia; disregarding the low levels of nudity (and perhaps because of them), this year's ride had the highest male / female ratio of any ride I remember, perhaps 60/40%. And my personal favourite of the three girls who went topless did so only very briefly, after the ride for the team photo, despite apparently getting her baps discreetly painted behind a modesty windbreak at the start.

I really love these ladies, I wonder what conversations went on before the ride as to the reasons for doing it and how naked to get! They look like school teachers or similar, not the usual sort of female rider, which I find exciting. Judging from this guy's erection, I'm not alone:rolleyes:

Sweet baby jesus Pedro, thanks. On the ball as ever! I'd seen Flickr user 'Official World Naked Bike Ride's Bristol and Cardiff sets, and I recognise the Bristol 2011 set that's still there. But the Brighton (and London) sets are something else entirely- 500 photos of exceptional quality, uploaded yesterday. Stunning girls completely at ease and from the very start of the gatherings to the very end of the ride. The selection below are hardly even highlights.

The young, busty Brighton brunette is a new candidate for my all time top ten- if only she'd whipped those panties off- and with her in the painting tent is another cutie that I haven't seen many photos of; they didn't seem to ride together. That's the pierced girl with the bright blue eyes and dark stone pendant (and I wonder what generated that gleam in their eyes in the second image ;) ).

It's an embarrassment of riches on Flickr, seems to me even greater quantity than last year despite reduced numbers- it's going up much faster than it ever could be posted here. Thought I'd put in a special mention for FaXye KinXnet (remove Xs) this year though- if the m/f ratios really were lower this year then Faye's got a pretty good eye for the ladies ;). Personally I don't take after the doom-mongers. London & Brighton this year were always forecast to be in crappy weather- London's first rainy forecast. And I'm pretty sure a great many of those who signed up the last couple of years on FB never intended to ride; now that the rides are maturing the FB novelty for ride spectators is surely abating. And of course it's hardly as if the environmental aims of the rides have been achieved by any means- the emissions scandal rumbles on, not to mention the grim London air quality report that Boris supposedly suppressed.
