searching for full nudity in a street festival or parade

The next 12 pics go together and form part of a question. The question is this: How many places in the world can you observe FULL nudity in a city street as part of a regular festival or parade? This is an interesting question, and one that any photog that covers these types of events might want to ask. The vast majority of street parading in this world is done topless only. So here is the breakdown on the full nudity - lets say fully nude in daylight in a city street - no bikers and no runners - WALKING OR STANDING ONLY! (and NO BtoB walkers, either! - they are suppose to be running!)
1) Full nudity is a regular occurance - I did not include any pics below: Folsom Street Fair: Full nudity is common. Also "Up your Alley" is a related SF event at it can be found there too FantasyFest: Full nudity (painted) can occur in the street during the daytime - also quite common. FremontParade: each year 3-6 people walk the parade route naked. 2) Full nudity is rare - also, I did not include any pics below: Dyke marches - occasionally you will see full nudity but it is very rare. Christopher Street Parade: It appears that one year a woman did a NIP stunt in association with this event, and it was heavily photographed. This does not count :) 3) now on to the pics below - event unknown or extent of full nudity unknown: Zurick Street Parade: Pics 1-4 below: Event unknown: Pics 5-12. This is ALL the remaining pics I could find in my collection that were not obviously associated with any of the events mentioned above. So, my conclusion is - outside of 3-4 well known events listed above, full nudity in a street festival or parade is very rare. Can anyone prove me wrong!? This is NOT a lot of pics! KLondike |

last two of the 12. Note: pics 10 and 11 may not be from a street festival or parade, but pic 12 quite obviously is. That is why pic 12 intrigues me the most. She is fully and festively costumed and doesn't appear to be wearing a tapasexo. Also, she is parading in daylight, so it is not Rio Carnival. Anyone know this event?

Note I said "fully nude" above but some of the girls were, of course, partially dressed with bottoms exposed. Anyway, here is another girl dressed like one of the Zurick Street Parade girls - this is from the "Vision Parade" (?)

Crispus, I am wondering if the mystery pic no 12 is from the Notting Hill Carnival (UK). Other pics I've seen show women naked except for tapasexos. Here is another pic (no 1) and the buildings look sort of similar. then I'll throw in a couple more because the babes are hot.
These street festivals seem to fall into two main categories - those that are sort of derived from Rio Carnival, and those that are more gay and fetish oriented. Notting Hill is definately in the former category. Also, I guess there are the techno parades, of which I think the Zurich Street Parade is one. KLondike |

If full nudity in a city street parade is that rare, that makes the Fremont Parade just that more impressive. I did a little digging, because I wanted to know a bit more about street parades in general (with nudity or partial nudity). So, in brief:
1) the techno parades - Love parade (Berlin) was the biggest, followed by the Zurich Street Parade and the Budapest Parade. There are numerous offshoots, including love parade SF. These are often huge, techno or rave parties in the streets. More party than parade. Semi naked girls often occur in sort of designated areas behind railings. 2) Gay pride parades and dyke marches. Gay Pride parades are LBTG (Lesbian, bisexual, transexual and gay) events with a more or less common heritage that trace back to the stonewall riots in NYC, 1969. The Christopher street parade is one such LBTG event, and most major cities have one. Dyke Marches, on the other hand, are like women-only equivalents of Gay pride parade, and they often occur on the same weekend as the GP event. The first dyke march in the US was held in 1993. 3) Folsom Street Fair - more fetish and leather than gay, or at least, not affiliated with more typical Gay Pride parades. There is no actual "parade" at the Folsom Street Fair. 4) Rio Carnival and derivatives - including Mardi Gras. These all have their origins in Catholic religious traditions, and historically take place in February coinciding with Epiphany ( a holiday). Sometimes held in daylight, sometimes at night, parades are held all over the world. Rio carnival costumes are imitated in countless smaller parades, and are sometimes just as nude (notting Hill, Mission Carnival SF) but usually not. 5) Fantasy Fest - Fantasy Fest is unique, or at least has a separate origin from the others , being the brainchild of business interests in Key West, Florida. There is a parade during Fantasy Fest week, but the event is really billed as a street party, not parade. 6) Fremont Parade - the Fremont Parade has elements of Rio Carnival, but is a solstice parade (celebrating summer) and there are many others but none of the others have nudity that I know of. 7) all the others - I've just scratched the surface really, and there is all kinds of other stuff (Mermaid Parade, Doodah Parade, How Berkeley Can You Be parade, etc, etc..). I leave you with a pic set that is well worth reposting. This is from the 2005 Fremont Parade, and shows one of the few nude walkers relaxing a bit in front of some Fremont onlookers. Nice NIP moment.... |
