Body Painted Nude from Big Paul Mauriat Album in 1968

The song "Love is Blue" by Paul Mauriat and His Orchestra was an international hit in 1968 charting at number-1 for five weeks.
The song was from the album "Blooming Hits" on the Philips label (PHS 600-248-1968) The album with the memorable cover was on display everywhere records were sold because the song was such a big hit. Body painting was something new to many people at the time. In those days, some people took offense at the picture, but the music was getting air play on all kinds of US radio stations from Top-40 hit stations aimed at teenagers, to "elevator/dentist office" orchestral music stations aimed at the older crowd. Even the stations that specialized in Frank Sinatra type music were playing it. The music was popular, but I am sure a lot of guys bought the album for the cover and used the popular music as an excuse. It probably also stayed at the top of their record stack where it could always easily be seen and enjoyed. ;) |
