Great set from this guy http://www.flickr.com/photos/2220666...7620501905665/
his ability to capture and centralize on just one rider without cropping is remarkable

just a selection of 10

My 2 favorites from the set; in "b," since the "o" is over 6MB, which begs the question: sal32, your versions at "o" size are smaller than Klondike's, which latter are the same size as downloading from Flickr, enough smaller that, even with my snaily dialup, I'd be able to upload "o" sizes, and in multiple as opposed to the individual samples I've been posting, if I knew how you reduced their file size. They do lack exif info, but picture quality, at least at 100% (and at this degree of closeup, approximating life size, who needs more?), seems undiluted. Care to share?

I think maybe it was Crispus who "discovered" her a ways back. There are very few pics of her, and at the time he posted, we had seen most of the other babes.

no, the fair is the following weekend. I'm not going anywhere over the 4th where I'll be taking pics. As for the massive resolution - everything I shoot from now on will have it. :) There is no looking back.....

On a related note, you will all be pleased that someone was handing out little cards to riders at the bodypainting party soliciting naked riders for the Seattle WNBR (July 11th). If only ten percent of the Fremont women ride in the WNBR this year, that will add 27 nudies! I do not know if I can attend but it is a possibility (but OCF is that same weekend).

Here's a pic i just posted to Flickr. Please check my flickr photostream as more pics are going up (DavinS06) and there will always be a few that didn't make it in this thread. Also, crops are a little better and some non-nudies are posted as well.

Here's a postscript to the Fremont ride: I had speculated that more women than men rode this year. Over at Flickr, another Fremont photog wrote me to say he is quite sure that more women than men rode, and that the same held true last year (When he said he counted 310 riders total but didn't separate by male/female).

So.....unless anyone cares to dispute this, I think it is safe to say that:

more women than men rode in both the 2008 and 2009 Fremont Parade!

I have to bold and highlight this lest Pedro is off napping a bit too much on his sunny Spanish beach today...:)

True, I need some sleep, as I have been a busy fisherman recently!

While, I bow to my learned friend that the Fremont women are spectacular and in terms of quantity and quality, I still think Europe has a better 'class' of WNBR female riders;). I just wish we could have something like Fremont in Europe!!

Make no mistake about it, UK WNBR pics at least are in a "class" by themselves. As for the women, i have no reason to doubt that what you say is true....

Here are some more from my shooting. I was near the end of the Parade route. Now it has been my experience that the cyclists would ride by and back and by again. This year they just rode by once. Which was unfortunate, I was literally overwhelmed by the number of riders this year. I could not snap fast enough. By the time I made it to the gasworks most riders where putting clothes on.

More from the Best Parade in Seattle, I think Pedro the Fisherman will enjoy just how up close and personal my new camera can get too. I think the Closeups show just how much fun the cyclist's actually have. The First Face Shot is the Girl on the Surfboard. Well Off to enjoy some beer, Enjoy.

Klondike 07-02-2009 11:46 PM

Ah yes, more pics from Mr Bjcojak. :) These are lovely and the res is super. I think you and I would agree - this ride goes by too fast and its a shame that viewing, even in Gaswork Park, is short lived. About the only place it seems you can relax and linger a bit is at the bodypainting party. It takes a while to apply all that paint...

cheers,

Klondike

Found Clickr73's Riders painting up session photos, easily one of the best collections available, - the only disappointment being no Gasworks / after ride pics. Not that this is a criticism, but an observation.

Clickr73' s flickr homepage set of 99 contained a couple of very 'safe' painting up pics, but nothing like last years.

But a few minutes later, 70 or so table thumpers are found in the Free-mont thread.

At this point in time (5th July 2009), there are 5,859 pics in the Free-mont group, this puts Clickr73's pics at about page 13, but it will move with time.

psiman this confused me. These pics aren't in clickr's public photos, and I didn't see them in the fremont thread either. Perhaps I'm looking in the wrong place. Can you help?

Sounds like psiman may have pulled them out of the Free-mont group pool. Often private or "friends only" pics can be viewed this way. I sometimes submit "friends only" pics to Flickr groups and Clikr73 evidently did this also. I might check that group to see just how many pics he added to it. If all his friends only pics are there, one can see and download all of them (and post them here!).

This is the one great thing about Flickr groups. Often, they are not worth surfing. But knowing that "friends only" pics can often be viewed this way makes it sometimes very worthwhile.

To help clarify, klondyke is correct, they are from the Free-Mont Group, and are still there.

You DO have to be a member of a group to access that groups's photos at Flickr.

Here are a few more of the table thumpers,

Thanks for your posts over the years klondyke, I also now want to own a Canon 50D.

Got it. Actually, you didn't have to be a member to browse the photos, but you did have to be a member to see ALL the photos. That's what threw me off.

It looks like all the photos that were marked public in clikr73's own albums were public i.e. viewable in the Fremont group collection even if you were not a member, but the ones that were marked private were only viewable in the Fremont group if you joined up. Once I signed up I could see everything.

freemont questions

This and the South American Indians thread are my two all time favorites on OCC. Does anybody know if a participant in the Solstice parade, or other events like it, must have any qualifications, or register in advance with the parade organizers, or can anybody show up naked and join in? If they must register, is there any fee?
Are any female OCC members, or female friends of OCC members considering joining next year's parade? If any are considering it, but are concerned about a registration fee, or expenses for travel to Freemont, bikini waxing, etc., would an OCC moderater be able to set up a fund to which OCC members could contribute to help defray part of these costs? If so, a PO box to which one could mail a check would be preferable to people like me, who are hesitant to give credit card information on the internet.

Thank you very much to all who contributed pictures to this thread.

Participating is easy. There is no fee. And from the sounds of things in recent years, you could just sort of show up and join the hoards at any point in the ride and few are going to notice or care if you "registered".

Over at Flickr, its happened on more than one occasion that I get a comment on one of my pics from a young woman who says something like "That looks like fun! I'd like to try that!"

It would be an interesting way for a photog to add nudes to his "portfolio". I think of it as similar to asking and paying a woman to accompany you to the local nude beach for a photosession. For me, it would be important to try and assemble a good sized group that stays more or less together and has a themed paint job. 3-5 women would be ideal, but of course, more would be even better.:)

Funding required? Figure maybe $200-600 per woman. Split among 200,000 OCC members, that ain't too bad....

Klondike

toenail 07-10-2009 06:58 PM

OCC contingent

Klondike, your post makes me optimistic. I didn't know that we had 200,000 OCC members! Also, I did not consider that paying local women would be less expensive than reimbursing travel expenses for a "free" volunteer from a distant location, but from your estimate of $200 to $600 per woman, it seems that it would be significantly less expensive to recruit local women.

If only one tenth of one percent of OCC contributed an average of $9 each, that would be $1800, enough for 3 women at $600 each. It is not unreasonable to hope that we could even raise more money than would be practical to spend on the Solstice Parade in one year. Perhaps any extra could be saved for the following year, or contributed to some other event, such as the WNBR in London.

I live in Florida, and unfortunately there are no public nudity events I know of here. I would still contribute to such a fund, even though I would not be able to attend an event in person. Has anybody had experience in raising money, or does anybody know how one would go about this?
