Not that I have a problem with that as linking is eminently more practical. But my pics feel a little lonely sitting here all by themselves now. :) Maybe I'll haul a couple over to keep them company..

K: I think it's partly the number of flickr users now watermarking, but also, for myself as a reposter, I feel fine filling in bits around the edges (especially when The Master suffers from connection problems), but when you and the newer original photographers are fully up and running, cannot but fade into oblivion by comparison...here two more parsimoniously parceled por perv perusal by the worthy Jeff at flickr, who does however promise more to come, but to quote that classic "Cocaine," "...he won't say when..."

Crispus is correct about the practical considerations. The best galleries I've found so far (the two flickr ones I linked above, and the smugmug gallery PWG2 already linked) are watermarked.

However, whenever possible I ALWAYS prefer re-posting pics rather than linking galleries. Links have a way of going private, or disappearing entirely. Plus, as a re-poster, exercising a bit of editorial discretion is one way to give back to OCC. I mean, obviously everyone can do a flickr search. But when there are literally thousands and thousands of pics from a given event, like Fremont Solstice, it's nice to compile "the best of the best" here. Obviously that's always going to be based on the subjective preferences of the individual poster, but there's almost always enough consensus that it seems a worthwhile endeavor.

As I said, the bulk of what I've found has been water-marked, which makes going back through my download folder and plucking out the post-able (and post-worthy) pics will be a bit of a chore, but I have every intention of doing so as we move forward.

I have been a little saddened by looking at Flikr thumbnail pics only to find a pair of painties being worn when you enlarge the photo (surely more than any previous year), but sometimes it is worth a closer look!;)

I'm planning on posting my favourites a little later. At the moment I'm trying to keep up with the albums being posted at the various sites. I always worry that if I don't grab them when I can I may miss out if they become private.

Great pics by the way. Taken in pretty difficult conditions too.

Cheers PWG2

Have pics already been taken down from these sets? Because I'm not seeing much now.

links to password protected galleries are being posted to the yahoo group Solcycles. I saw one great gallery today which included painting party pics. Join the group maybe as I don't want to hand out passwords here, and I don't think I can link to Solcycles posts that are posted to my comcast inbox. Don't worry - I can certainly get you the info somehow if you have to see the pics.

I haven't been on flickr yet since the bulk of the sets went up; I wanted to come back and provide some additional reporting and commentary before I got distracted by grabbing and posting flickr pics. (Okay, I lied, I've peeked around a little - found a moderately unflattering picture of myself... ;))

First, a quick word about the painting party. I got there probably around 8:00 (my post with the faulty weather report looks like it was time-stamped 8:55, by which time I was stripped down and half-painted). There seemed to be small groups coming in every couple of minutes or so, but towards the end, particularly around 10:00, people started streaming in to get a rush paint job in. On more than one occasion, I heard people say that they had mistakenly gone to Hale's Ales first instead. I can't find the post now, but someone mentioned ugly paint jobs... it's possible this was the reason.

Speaking of which, there was a funny moment as we were congregating in the parking lot outside the party when these two fully dressed girls walked up to their friends, upset that they had missed the party. After telling their friends they'd go get painted and meet at the beginning of the parade, they left. Sure enough, shortly after passing the beginning of the parade route, I saw these two girls on foot stripped down to black lacy panties and haphazardly covered in sky blue body paint. I'll be sure to post a picture of them when/if I find one.

Here is a link to my post with the party pics if you need a refresher course, as I meant to post them with a bit of brief commentary. First, the blue farmer girls -- probably the most age-borderline riders I noticed, but for those worried, I can confirm that they are current students at my alma mater. (Not that I recognize them, but I noticed one of their T-shirts and asked.) Also, thanks to the gentleman with them for pumping up the air in my tires. The "peacock girls" with the yellow/blue painted girl - yes, sadly they kept those flesh-colored panties on. However, most of them were thongs, and I had the pleasure of riding behind them for the first portion of the ride. The purple short-haired one had a fairly perfect ass, that gave just the right amount of jiggle when the road got a bit bumpy (which in Seattle, it does frequently). I'm kind of sad that the picture of the black and white girl ("dressed" as the Sandman) didn't turn out better, as (a) she's completely nude and sporting a full bush, and (b) I helped paint her. :D

Anyway, that's enough text from me, although if I think of any more fun stories to add, I will be sure to share them. On to more pictures!

thanks, kaciejanmes. Interesting about the Hales misconnection, and I wonder if more than a couple photographers showed up there also. I almost wonder if the late timing in the anouncement of the new location was deliberate i.e. intended to throw potential spectators off. I don't know. BUt apparently it threw RIDERS off, something I expect was unintentional since the riders are suppose to be "in the know"...

Rush paint jobs. Bad weather. Its a wonder people are talking about what a great time they had! but they are, and it just goes to show you that nudity conquers all :)
