Need recommendations for a VHS/DVD combo.
Hey OCC, ToddCheese here. I'm looking to make this the year I finally get all of my old VHS recordings converted to DVDs. And that includes lots of ENF/EUF videos I've never seen posted here. But I need recommendations for a VHS/DVD combo unit. Here are my basic requirements:
* I need to be able to play VHS tapes on it and record them onto DVDs. * Needs to be easy to use. * Has to be reliable. No piece of junk that craps out after a few hours' use. * Needs to allow me to pause and start a new file when I want to. That, or recommend some easy-to-use editing software so I can edit clips. * Preferably not too expensive. $100 or so is about the limit. * Good tech support if I need it is a major plus. Does such a creature exist? Please help, and I will pay you back by posting sexy vids. Thanks in advance.

I would much more recommend buying a good quality USB video capture interface for your PC, then picking up a high quality VHS player from a thrift store. Should be within budget and gives you a huge amount more flexibility. I'd stay away from the ones you get in mail order catalogues with a built in capture device.

VHS to DVD conversion
Quote:
I bought a "Elgato Video Capture, Capture analog video for your Mac or PC, iPad and iPhone, white" on Amazon for $79. Just copy and paste the name to google or Amazon to see it. It takes analog right off my VHS, converts it to digital, allows me to cut it to size and then places it in the file of my choice on any drive I want. From there I can burn it to a DVD or make a play list and burn it to a DVD. I find it very easy to use. Just make sure you have RCA outputs on your player. I also have a combo VHS/DVD player that can burn directly from VHS to DVD. It is a JVC model #JVC model DRMV150B. I bought it new in 2010 for $199. It is now still on Amazon, Sams Club and others for around $179. Just google it. This is a great player and I use it with my Elgato Video Capture and have converted hundreds of VHS and VHS-C to digital. Hope this helps.
