pic quality on text links vs thumbs
Hi,
When people post text links to individual pics rather than thumbs, the quality of the resulting pic is (on my computer at least) much lower - almost not worth downloading. Why is that? I'm using an iMac G4. Example would be the post "caught outside, stolen towel, etc" (ENF section) where there are links both as thumbs and text. The thumb pics look fine. The pics I get from clicking on the text links look pretty bad. Any advice? Thanks! Klondike |

I noticed that too. I think I know what the problem is.
When someone uplaods a JPEG to the forum, our software automatically makes a thumbnail of the photo. However, for some reason some photos are corrupt. I'm sure this isn't the fault of the original poster. I suspect some of the corrupt files may have come from yahoo groups and could be related to how yahoo reduces the quality and size of the photos posted to groups there. Anyway when the forum software gets a JPEG and it can't make a proper thumbnail, it just posts a link to the photo. The photo you see should be identical in quality to the photo when it was uploaded. Thanks,
