AVI Problems
First off I want to say that this is one of the best sites I have seen on the net. I found it a while ago and then had problems with my computer and couldn't get back till recently. My problem is when I download an avi file I play it and I can get the sound but I cannot see anything. I have the latest codec pack from nimo. And I also have the latest versions of divx and xvid. I got them last week when I was having another problem. I can play any other type of file but avi, and I have tried playing them in a variety of players. Anyone have any suggestions.
Thanks for the help. |

try these
open up media player, then click tools, then option's, then file types, then click select all, and then click OK.
If that dosent work, Go to your desktop, and right click your mouse in middle of the screen and left click properties. then click setting,s then click advanced button near bottom. Then click troubleshoot, and make sure that the hardware acceleration is on FULL. If it is, then its fine, BUT if it isnt, you need to move it to FUUL and click OK. Once you do that, your screen will go black for a few seconds and then re appear. If these don't work, then try uninstalling media player and reinstall it again. I hope this helps in some way, regards celeb_peeper Quote:

my 2 cents
I could be wrong(seems to happen a lot lately) but sound with no picture sounds like a codec thing to me.
Have you ever used/heard of the g spot codec information appliance http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ maybe it can help. Here is another thought you said you had computer problems, I remember having trouble playing some vid types after doing a windows reinstall and update/patch. I don't remember the details but it had something to do with a smr codec and a hack/patch of a microsoft codec. Does this type of thing ring any bells for you in your situation ? |
