doing a vidcap
a lot of people say they don't know how to make vidcaps from clip's they have.
there is a lot of tools out there for doing this, BUT if you have power DVD, then you can also use that. Right click on your video clip and then choose to play the clip with power dvd. Use your space bar to pause the clip, and press letter C to make a cap. The cap's are always saved as BMP so you'll need to change them to JPG's. The caps noramlly go directly to your desktop BUT you can change where they go with the settings on power DVD player. regards celeb_peeper |

Thanks celeb_peeper
I've also written a tutorial for making vidcaps with Windows Movie Maker (bundled free with Windows XP) in this thread.

info
I have many different ways to make vidcap's, BUT my most favourite is a program called "CDelight" you can scroll through the video and take as many caps as you like, BUT i like the setting for doing multiple caps on one image. Thas what i normally use when posting on this forum.

For RealMovies (ie. that play with Real Player and have .rm extension), the Real Player site gives the following information that probably also works with other movie formats. I tried it and used Infranview to paste the image into; worked like a charm:
When you capture a screen shot from RealPlayer, the video window will not show the video image that was playing at the moment you captured the screen shot. To capture a screen shot that includes the image from the video window, you must disable the optimized video option in RealPlayer. Then capture the image using the instructions below. To turn off the optimized video option: 1. Open RealPlayer and click the Tools menu, then Preferences. 2. In the Category panel, click Hardware. 3. In the Video Card Compatibility section, move the slider all the way to the left to Most reliable, which disables optimized video and overlays. 4. Click OK. 5. Restart RealPlayer. To take the screen shot: 1. Click the RealPlayer window once to make sure it is the active window on your screen. 2. Press and hold the ALT key, and then press the PRINT SCREEN (PrtScn) key. Release both keys. 3. Open the program you want to paste the screen shot into. 4. Right-click inside the document and choose Paste from the menu that appears. This pastes the screen shot into the document.
