Guess your right Dippsy. It could have been a fun time for all if everyone had just played along. I started a snippy reply but abandoned it, but am still troubled by your plan - if you got your wife's consent to the groom and best man, why make the train a surprise? It seems like that's a step too far, one that turns you into an assshole if she doesn't love your idea. If you're always right then there's no problem, but if she is going along with you without really wanting to do this, and you push her too far, that's not cool.
