Alexrolex13 and I must share similar tastes, in that he has created yet another thread whose content is something dear to my heart. Yes, I remember well the nudist magazines of the 1950s and 1960s. For those too young to remember, pornography was outlawed pretty much throughout the US until the late '60s, and overzealous police departments and prosecutors usually defined "pornography" to include pictures of naked women not involved in sexual acts. Even Playboy magazine was cowed enough to refrain from publishing any pictures depicting full frontal nudity.
That's where nudist magazines came in. Because they argued they were "promoting a lifestyle" that was "healthy," publishers of nudist mags were for the most part (but not always) given a pass. Face it, it was a game that fooled no one. Nudist groups raised thousands of badly-needed dollars to support their lifestyle (and fight the self-appointed defenders of chaste morals who would have put nudists behind bars), all the while telling themselves that they "were bringing awareness of the naturist lifestyle to those who would otherwise never be exposed to it" (no pun intended). Yes, bringing such "awareness" to straight men who had no intentions of ever becoming nudists, but who enjoyed seeing pictures of naked young women with full bushes proudly on display! In truth, these mags of yore seem so innocent nowadays, and I'm sure younger OCC viewers look at them and think, "so what." One by one, the nudist mags (save for AANR and TNS quarterlies) died an inevitable death after pornography was decriminalized, paving the way for Penthouse, Hustler, and things much MUCH more explicit! I for one will never forget the day, perhaps in 1962, when a 13-year old Alonzo entered a local liquor store, looked over his shoulder to make sure the clerk was looking the other way, and began perusing that month's Playboy. "Hey kid!" the clerk shouted. "I've been caught!" thought Alonzo. "Hey commere, kid! I've got some GOOD stuff to show you!" And so was I introduced to the works of Ed Lange and many others. Thx for the thread. |

Any idea at all as to what was going on here? I'm thinking of the three people at the far right:

DeGaulle's Lucky Day
I posted this one at OCC once before, but not on this thread. Mea culpa, one has to be of a certain vintage to remember Charles DeGaulle.
Call this one "DeGaulle's Lucky Day." |
