How to play videos that end in .rar

I know how to save and play videos that end in .mpg or .avi on my DivX player but how do I do the same for ones that end in .rar?

A .rar is not actually a video, but an archive file. It's similar to a .zip. You can use a program like WinRAR to open it, and the archive will contain the file or files you want.
