Problem with transfer rate

Don't know who saw my post but I said I was having trouble with my downloads ever since I downloaded BS player.

I figured out what the problem is but have no idea how to fix or stop it.

I'm still on dial-up. My transfer rate is 10.0 K/sec. Or was.

Now when I download my transfer rate starts at 10.0 k/sec but slowly drops as the download proceeds.

I can watch it drop every second. first to 9.0 then slowly down to the 3.0 and finally, the lowest it ever dropped to was .37 k/sec.

At 10.0 k/sec I could download any clip in less than 20 minutes. With this problem I am seeing download times of 3 and 4 hours.

Does anyone know what this problem is caused by and how I can fix it?

I can afford a high speed line like dsl for a few months.

Thanks for any suggestions

Sound's to me alphaboo that you have problem with your dial up provider. I can't see how BS player would have an effect on your D/L speed's.

Have you tried uninstalling BS player to see what effect it has on your connection stat's??.

Also, have you checked for spyware recently. If not, you might want to give that a try. Use adaware and spybot search & destroy (both free). To keep spyware off once your system is clean, use spywareblaster:http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html. I put that on my system and haven't had a single piece of spyware in over 4 months. :D

Thanks.

It seem to be a bizarre temp thing. When I changed the BS play from default it seems to have cleared up the problem and my download rate went back up. Weird though. I never saw anything like that before.

Thanks for the spyware thing. I don't think I have any but I am concerned about.

A few months ago, Verizon, I mean verizon, a big company, slipped some spyware crap unto my system when I was checking out their site for DSL.

You can't trust anyone!!

Thanks
